I’m Doug, and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready to rock & rumble? Let’s roll.
Ricky Starks is now Ricky Saints. Thoughts?
So far as name changes go, it’s not too bad. Starks is from New Orleans, so there is that connection with the football team, plus WWE already has a Starks on the roster in Zoey Starks. I would have preferred to see Ricky keep his original name, but this one isn’t too bad.
TNA X-Division Champion Moose and TNA TagTeam Champions Matt & Jeff Hardy will defend their titles next week on NXT. Thoughts?
The TNA/NXT crossovers continue and we’re getting The Hardy Boys back in WWE as a result. Also, it looks as if Oba Femi will be headed to TNA on Thursday. It’s making both shows exciting and must-see. Good deal.
Agree or disagree. Does NXT have the best Women’s roster in pro wrestling?
While I’m sure the TNA Knockouts might disagree, I won’t. It’s a valid argument and the quality of the matches with the NXT women as of the last year seems to back that statement up.
Logan Paul believes he has “go away heat” with a portion of the WWE audience. “There’s a handful of the audience that is genuinely like, ‘get this guy out of here.'” Thoughts?
Given his history, pre-wrestling, and character, I can understand where he’s coming from. And he’s probably right. Fans might not like Logan. Hell, I didn’t at first, but the matches and quality of those exhibitions have earned my respect. I’ve become a fan. Logan gets it and he’s a big plus to WWE. I’m looking forward to seeing what he does next.
JDC (Fandango): Shawn Michaels said he has one or two matches left in him. So, if HBK were to come back and do one more match, who would you like to see him wrestle?
If HBK were to come back and do one more match, or better yet, two matches, I’d say Seth Rollins and CM Punk as the opponents. Both opponents would be high-quality matches, plus they’re big enough that the spectacle of the match would help cover for any in-ring mistakes or flubs. Also, both Punk and Rollins are good enough to protect HBK in the ring and make for a good match.
Do you think The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) are going to be WWE World Tag Team Champions this year?
I would hope so. Woods and Kofi are killing it with their heel version of the New Day, and I’d love to see them wearing tag team gold once more.
Michael Cole says that WWE is a storytelling entity first, not professional wrestling anymore. Thoughts?
Cole is right. The matches are the tools used to tell the stories between the assorted characters that are professional wrestlers. That’s what successful wrestling has always been, but no one has ever said it out loud. Cole just did. And he’s right. The stories and the characters draw in the fans and put the butts in the seats. The matches are just the means to the end.
Ricky Starks, now known as Ricky Saints, says there were veterans in AEW that “stuck their nose” in his creative business that “shouldn’t have happened”, and if they have a problem with him saying that, they know how to contact him. Care to speculate who the “veterans in AEW” are.
I’m pretty sure that “Bug Eyes” and the “Learning Tree” are the guilty parties that Ricky is referring to here. Starks push stopped the moment that he showed up Edge on live TV. And the rest was history.
What are your thoughts on Apollo Crews?
How does this guy even still have a job? Crews is not a bad wrestler, but he hasn’t been a factor in WWE for several years. Even Tamina Snuka is more relevant in today’s WWE than Crews is. The guy can go in the ring, but he’s nothing more than just another face in catering these days. He must have some dirt on someone high up in the company because otherwise, he wouldn’t have a job right now.
Would you want to see Mick Foley and Rhea Ripley in a WWE storyline?
Foley has brought this subject up a few times and wants to work with Rhea. I get it. She’s arguably the hottest talent in WWE right now. But why? Rhea doesn’t need Foley and truthfully, his presence with Rhea would make no sense. A backstage meeting and cameo could be fun, but apart from that, I don’t see any reason for these two stars to work together.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
