I’m Doug, your resident Guiding Light and Party Host. And this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Do you have questions? I have the answers. Are you ready? Let’s roll.
With Elijah officially part of the TNA roster, what do you think his first major feud should be?
Based on the past couple of weeks, it looks as if his first feuds are against The Colons and The System. Teaming with Joe Hendry and Matt Hardy, that’s a good way to start off a new promotion.
What do you think are the key qualities that make a successful tag team?
Chemistry, both in and out of the ring. Usually, each part of the team has a different role, with one as the power person, while the other is the flyer or the move-guy, which works too. But mainly, just chemistry and trust.
What kind of strategies can AEW and WWE use to revive the women’s division? Both divisions feel like they lack meaningful stories or powerful characters.
Have patience, have strong matches that have a purpose, and give the women time for interviews, longer matches, and a chance to connect to the audience while they tell their stories. If the product is good, the fans will come.
Were there any wrestlers you thought “can’t miss” that were abject failures? Mine was Tyler Reks, for some reason, I thought he was great.
For me, Curtis Axel comes to mind. He had the skills and pedigree but never seemed to connect with the fans properly. Aaron Solo, in AEW, is the same way too. He’s a great heel and has charisma, personality, and can go in the ring, but he’s rarely even an afterthought in AEW. I’ll blame that on AEW though. If Solo was in NXT, he’d be a top guy.
Sports Illustrated recently ranked Becky Lynch as the greatest female wrestler in WWE history. Do you agree? If so, why? If not, who do you think is and where does Becky compare to them?
Becky is a talented wrestler and one of the top women in WWE, but the greatest in history in a list that doesn’t even include Moolah, Wendi Richter, Victoria, Ivory, Sherri Martel, Luna Vachon, Gail Kim, Jacqueline, Jazz, Molly Holly, Mae Young, Ronda Rousey, Stephanie McMahon, etc. That list is just a list of names with no credibility or worth. Of the current WWE women, Liv, Rhea, and Charlotte are all better in that ring.
If you could have been in the building for any match in history, what would it be?
Starcade 83 in Greensboro, NC. I would have loved to have seen Flair beat Harley Race in the cage for the NWA Championship. That was a history that can never be repeated or forgotten.
Do you think WWE should bring the Hardy Boyz back to the main roster for one last major run?
It looks as if that seems to be the plan, with Matt & Jeff splitting their time between TNA and NXT. The TNA Tag Team Champions versus The War Raiders or DIY, would be some good TV.
Why does the Miz still have a job at WWE? He’s the drizzling shits.
Why am I wasting my time with this question? Miz has a job because he’s good at what he does, is credible with the fans, can work any role that WWE asks him to, can have a good match with anyone, and is great with appearances and acting as an Ambassador for WWE. Miz is the perfect utility player for WWE who can do anything and do it well. In other words, to sum it up, he’s AWESOME!
Which ’80s wrestling talk show was the best?
The Heartbreak Hotel with Shawn Michaels. Blackjack’s BBQ with Blackjack Mulligan. The Body Shoppe. The Brother Love Show. Paul Bearer’s Funeral Parlor. Jake Robert’s Snake Pit. Adrian Adonis’s Flower Shop. They all had their place and a certain charm. But the best? There is only one correct answer. Piper’s Pit. ‘Nuff said!
Do you think the Cody Rhodes and The Rock storyline is a rip-off from the WWF Attitude Era days?
It’s a warped and twisted variation of Vince McMahon and his corporate champion. There is no hiding it and they’re not even trying to hide it.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects, and I’ll see you at the matches.
