Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Do you think AEW should have brought in Mauro Ranallo?

Why? Ranallo is a good commentator, but AEW already has plenty of announcers, including Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Taz. Why would they need another one?

There’s been a large group of new wrestling books out. Is there anyone you’d want to see written about or have a book about their lives?

I’d love to see Lisa Moretti, aka Ivory, write a book. She was part of GLOW before joining WWE. She worked as a wrestler, valet, and announcer. You know that she has a story to tell.

Would you like to see The Miz in AEW?

Nope, I wouldn’t. Miz is the consummate WWE guy and will probably remain so in some capacity until he retires. AEW would be a huge downgrade for Miz. It wouldn’t be AWESOME at all.

What’s your opinion of Charlotte Flair in the GOAT discussion? She’s an excellent wrestler when she wants to be but a terrible TV character in my opinion. So because of that I don’t rate her very much.

In the modern era of Women’s wrestling, if Charlotte isn’t the GOAT, she’s definitely in the discussion. In the ring, she has few peers, and much like her father back in the day, can have a good match with anyone. Her character can be a bit grating at times, but that doesn’t discount her ability or talent in that ring.

You have been made The God of Pro Wrestling. What are 3 commandments and laws that you would set to improve the tour experience of Wrestling from here on? I would outlaw the use of invisible cameras, black hoody wrestlers, and saying tour catchphrases more than once a show.

Not selling high-impact moves would be banned. Excessive bleeding for the sake of bleeding, but serves no purpose, would be forbidden, and no more scripted promos. It would be bullet points and go, with the wrestler either cutting a strong promo on their own or a manager being used as their mouthpiece, much as it was in the old days.

Who’s a bigger bust in AEW, Matt Hardy or Cope? Could Cope’s run be salvaged? Maybe if he went away for a bit and came back sans grit?

Matt’s AEW career wasn’t great, but he at least remained relevant. Cope’s career in AEW went bust with the injury at the very beginning, and now, his refusal to put the younger talent over. Going away wouldn’t help as he hasn’t been back very long from that last injury as it was. The bigger bust? Definitely Adam Copeland’s.

As much as AEW has improved this year, I still can’t really get hooked on watching full shows or PPVs as I used to for so long. I mostly just have Twitter clips and podcasts. What do you think they could still do better to draw lapsed fans all the way back?

Honestly, I think AEW has burned a lot of bridges and lost many fans that will never return. If they want them back, they need to change so many things and make I’m talking major changes. We’re talking about characters, the booking of matches, the storylines, etc. So long as Tony is writing the scripts, the fans will not return, nor should they.

With the lack of depth in AEW’s tag division, how would you guys resolve the issue? More acclaimed style put 2 guys together and make new team ideas, more signings, or something completely different?

Consistent booking, strong teams that are teams and not just randomly thrown together, and a strong focus on the tag team division instead of treating it as an afterthought, as they do now.

Which wrestler would you like to sit next to on a rollercoaster?

Jey Uso or Rhea Ripley. I have a feeling that either of those two would make for a wild ride. YEET!

Who would be on your Mount Rushmore of “should have been world champions”?

My picks would be Roddy Piper, Don Muraco, Cesaro, and Sean O’Haire.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects, and I’ll see you at the matches.

Ubuntu!
