Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Do you think WWE regrets not keeping Swerve Strickland?
The WWE roster is so stacked and loaded right now, I don’t think there are many regrets at all. Swerve is doing his thing in AEW right now, but where will he be in six months? Swerve is mid-card at best and I think WWE realizes that. AEW hasn’t yet, but they will.
Are you Team Jey or Team Gunther?
I’m happy for Jey to be getting a big push, and yes, I’d admit to being caught up in the whole Yeet-thing. But Gunther is the better wrestler in the big picture of things and will retain the World Championship at Mania. Team Gunther all the way.
Natalya says that Fit Finlay belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame. Agree or disagree?
Natalya is right and I agree 100%.
Next week, Jey Uso is wrestling Austin Theory & Grayson Waller on RAW. Uso has a mystery partner. TNA Champion Joe Hendry is teasing being Uso’s partner. Would you like to see Uso and Hendry teaming up on RAW?
Say his name and he appears. Hendry as Uso’s surprise tag team partner would be a great move and very fun to see. I’m hoping that this turns out to be the case.
Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk versus Ric Flair, Wahoo McDaniel, Crusher Blackwell, Dusty Rhodes, and Kerry Von Erich. Who wins?
What a battle this would be. So many foes acting as partners for the common good. And my money would be on Team NWA, of Ric, Dusty, Kerry, Wahoo, and Blackwell for the win.
Should Leyla Hirsch take her talents to NXT, or does another promotion fit her style better?
NXT has such a strong and loaded roster for their women’s division, that I have a feeling Hirsch, as good as she is, would get lost in the shuffle. She’s certainly worthy, but I think she’d be better off to maybe do a year or so with TNA first before heading to NXT or WWE. It’d give her a chance to build her brand before being tossed into the big pool.
Do you agree with BET’s ranking of Booker T as the greatest Black wrestler of all time?
In a list that didn’t include Ernie Ladd, Bearcat Wright, Sweet Daddy Siki, Tony Atlas, Bobo Brazil, Sailor Art Thomas, Skip Young, Abdullah the Butcher, and Kamala, how can it truly be valid? It’s a joke list made by a person who doesn’t have a clue. Is Booker the greatest black wrestler of all time? I tend to disagree.
Is Austin Theory still on the right track, or has WWE cooled off on him?
WWE has cooled off on Theory a bit, but he’s still in a great spot. He’s featured regularly on television and even if he’s losing matches, he’s getting great reactions from the live audiences and fans. When Theory eventually turns babyface, the response is going to be huge. The pathway might have veered off a little bit, but Theory is on track to a great role and future.
Do you want to see The Great Khali have another run in WWE?
The Great Khali is 52 years old and I think the time for a full-time run and return has passed. I wouldn’t mind seeing him maybe return for the occasional one-off or cameo, but that would be about it. And maybe a match against Omos, but that’s just my masochistic streak speaking out loud. Unless it’s just for a cameo, Khali should stay out of the WWE ring.
Name one thing you missed about Vince in WWE.
One thing? Nobody could fire someone like Vince. He was the best at uttering those infamous words, “You’re fired!”.
What if CM Punk didn’t brawl with Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023?
That may have been the exclamation point, but Punk and AEW would have been splitting ways anyhow by that point. It was just a matter of time, and given the events of Brawl Out, plus the animosity between Punk and the EVPs, a major blowup was coming and would have happened eventually. Jack Perry just happened to speed things up with his antics, but the place was a powderkeg and Punk would have been gone before too long.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects, and I’ll see you at the matches.
