Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Would you want to see The Dudley Boyz face The Hardy Boyz in TNA again?
It’d be a nice nostalgic match, but to be honest, at this point, it’d be more of a disappointment than anything else. D-Von hasn’t wrestled in quite a while, and Bubba, Matt, and Jeff are not what they once were. It could happen, but it’s not a big deal anymore, not what it once was.
Do you believe WWE’s strategy of signing Olympic athletes will bring the next wave of wrestling superstars?
I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s the next wave, but I’m sure that some potential stars will be found. It never hurts to check out all the potential talent and possible stars.
Pete Dunne will wrestle Timothy Thatcher at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XIII in April. Thoughts?
This should be an excellent match. These two men have such similar styles of wrestling, they would make an excellent tag team. I’m hoping that WWE is paying attention to this match and ends up bringing Thatcher back to a full-time deal. I’d love to see what he and Dunne can do together.
What are your thoughts on Naomi’s heel promo and attack on Jade on Smackdown? Is Naomi a good heel?
It was a different side of Naomi that I don’t recall ever seeing before and she nailed it. If Friday night was any indication, Naomi’s inner heel has been waiting to show itself for a while now. It was the most interesting that Naomi had been in years. The trick now will be to keep it up and keep that intensity. I’m actually interested in seeing how this plays out.
The Beast Mortos versus The Barbarian. Who wins?
The Beast Mortos has had his moments in AEW and is worth keeping an eye on, but The Barbarian is a wrestling legend and legitimately one of the toughest men ever, both in and out of the ring. The Barbarian wins.
Should WWE bring back the Legacy Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame? If so, who would you induct for the Class of 2025?
It didn’t last long enough, but I was and continue to be a big fan of the Legacy wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. It was a great way to pay homage to and acknowledge the past and the men and women who paved the way for what wrestling has become today, but without taking up too much time or detracting from the modern-day HOF inductees. If I was picking the Inductees for the Legacy wing for this year, I’d go with the following. Penny Banner, Jim Crockett Jr., The Anderson Brothers, Ole & Gene, Swede Hanson, Sweet Daddy Siki, and The Fargos, Don & Jackie.
Have you seen Maven’s interview with Justin Credible? What are your thoughts on the former ECW Champion?
As shown in the video, Justin Credible was a decent wrestler, but he’s a lousy human being. He’s an addict, a liar, a thief, and while he may feel bad about scamming fans, he doesn’t feel bad enough about it to quit. He just makes excuses. I’ve seen way too many good people travel down this path and very few ever make it back and redeem themselves. From what I can tell of Credible, the only thing we can expect from him is eventual prison or showing up dead. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so. He’s a sad and miserable person.
What’s your excitement level for WrestleMania this year on a scale of 1/10?
Maybe a 5 or 6 at the best. As we get closer, I’ll probably get more excited in anticipation, but thus far, the build has been less than great. I actually look forward more to RAW and Smackdown right now than I do the PLE events. I expect it will grow, but for now, my WrestleMania thoughts are less than great.
Do you think Mercedes Moné gets unfair hate since leaving WWE? Or has her AEW run lived up to the hype?
Mercedes has not had a good run in AEW. She has won titles, but her matches have gotten progressively worse, and her value as a wrestling talent and star has lessened as well. She’s been exposed that without the power of the WWE machine behind her, she’s not nearly as good as we all once believed. She gets criticized, but unfortunately, she’s earned the majority of it.
Fandango versus Disco Inferno. Who wins?
Both of these guys are so underrated, yet solid in the ring and a match between the two would steal the show at any event. A mixture of comedy and good solid wrestling. As a long-time advocate of the phrase, it’s your duty to shake your booty, I’d have Disco hitting the Chartbuster in the end to capture a hard-fought and entertaining win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects, and I’ll see you at the matches.
