Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Where do you stand? Do celebrity appearances elevate WrestleMania, or should WWE stick to full-time talent only?
Celebrities have been a part of WrestleMania since Day One and I think they add something to the show. Maybe it’s just publicity and attracting new eyes to the product, but when used properly, they can be highly beneficial. They shouldn’t take the spotlight from the real stars, the wrestlers, but as a bonus attraction, they have their uses.
Do you believe AEW Dynamite’s ratings will show more improvement in the coming weeks?
No, I don’t. They might get some momentum for a few weeks, but they’ll do something stupid and the viewers will leave again just as quickly. To maintain constant growth, AEW would need consistency in their booking and stories, and that is something that AEW has never been accused of having.
Do you think Charlotte Flair is justified in separating herself from the WWE locker room—or is she crossing a line as a veteran?
Bret Hart always dressed with the boys. Steve Austin always dressed with the boys. Harley Race always dressed with the boys. Does Charlotte think she’s more important than those three wrestling legends? She’s a good wrestler and top star, but she’s not that special, and trying to pretend otherwise just makes her look entitled and arrogant.
Do you think WWE should allow more stars to use the piledriver again? Or is it a move best kept rare?
Keep the moves like the piledriver rare and limited, and then, when they are used, they have more meaning and significance. If everyone is breaking out piledrivers, then it doesn’t stand out or matter. If only one person uses it, or it’s only used to try and injure an opponent rather than just beat them, it has meaning and importance. Less is more.
Ivan Koloff versus Kamala the Ugandan Giant. Who wins?
Ivan could take a loss and it wouldn’t hurt him a bit. A post-match beatdown would keep his heat alive. Kamala would win the match. Ivan would win the war.
Do you think WWE should have honored Ivan Koloff sooner?
Ivan Koloff should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame years ago. Why it took this long is anyone’s guess, but we can all speculate (Vince). Ivan had a stellar career all over the world and is truly one of wrestling’s greatest legends. This HOF induction is long overdue, but better late than never.
Do you think Chris Jericho should return to AEW full-time or take a break from the ring altogether?
Jericho needs to take a break and stay out of the spotlight for a while. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, plus the fans need time to forget about the Learning Tree and this most recent ROH run. Jericho should concentrate on Fozzy, the podcast, getting back in peak condition, and another reboot of his character before trying to return to the ring. His best days are behind him and that needs to be focused on and taken into account.
Who should be Randy Orton’s opponent at WrestleMania 41?
Smackdown General Manager and former NWA World Champion, Nick Aldis. The reasons are there and it makes the most sense. Book it, Triple H.
Do you think Bianca Belair owes Jade Cargill an apology?
Probably, but we’ll never see it happen. Bianca is on the verge of a heel turn. It’s obvious. And I’d much rather see Bianca versus Jade than another six months of a meaningless tag team.
