Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
WWE has officially updated El Grande Americano’s billed hometown changing it from the “Gulf of America” to the “Gulf of Mexico” after receiving backlash online. Thoughts?
WWE is caving in under the political pressure that should have nothing to do with professional wrestling. Like it or not, The Gulf of America is now the official name of the Gulf. Yes, it’s unpopular, but they’re using this to promote a heel with El Grande Americano. They should embrace the backlash and play into it. It would be the best thing to do and work perfectly with the character.
Where is Dalton Castle? Is he still with AEW/ROH?
Dalton Castle suffered a torn bicep in July 2024 and has been out since. He is still under contract with AEW/ROH and could return at any time.
Do you want to see Mercedes Mone end her career in AEW or return to WWE?
Honestly, her character has lost so much steam since moving to AEW, I could care less what she decides to do, or where she does it. I guess one last run in WWE before she finishes up would be the right thing to do, if only to watch her admit that WWE knows how to book her character and career better than she does. So, I guess that would be a yes?
WWE has officially named The Undertaker versus Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 25 as the greatest match in WrestleMania history. Are they right?
If this is the greatest match in WrestleMania history, then why is Bret versus Austin from Mania 13 getting the HOF induction? It’s a great match, and I’ll agree that it’s one of the best, top ten at least. The best though? I think that’s just an opinion and there are others just as worthy.
Bully Ray Dudley versus Jos LeDuc. Who wins?
What a bloody brawl this would be. LeDuc was so big and played the crazy man so well. And Bubba’s career speaks for itself. This match would be thrown out and declared a no-contest. There is no way we’d get a clear winner. But if there had to be a winner, my money would be on the wild Lumberjack, Jos LeDuc, for the victory.
Seth Rollins says he’s open to facing CM Punk in MMA, calling for Dana White to book this UFC fight. Would you like to see Punk versus Seth in the Octagon?
Punk has trained in MMA and UFC fighting. Seth is a great wrestler, but I don’t think it would go as easily as he expects. I’d love to see this happen, but it won’t happen in a UFC Cage. Maybe in a match like the Bloodsport events, where there is no ring, and the matches are submission or knockout only. A true MMA fight between Punk and Seth would be interesting, but too unpredictable and WWE would never allow it. A shoot-style brawl though? Maybe?
Do you think AEW should take a chance on Tetsuya Naito or is it smarter to pass?
I have no idea who this guy is except for he’s from New Japan and his contract is up, so he’s a free agent. AEW gets all the New Japan talent so why break the streak now? Hire this guy, Tony. He can’t be any worse than anyone else already on the roster.
Should WWE be doing more with Omos?
WWE has a legitimate giant who, as Pro Wrestling NOAH proved a few months ago, can be booked well and used effectively. And yet, WWE leaves him at home or in catering. What the hell? Yes, WWE should be doing more with Omos. He could be a major special attraction for the company if used correctly, but they choose to not use him at all. Crazy!
Do you think more AEW wrestlers will jump to WWE once their contracts are up? Which stars do you want to see make the switch?
I feel that several talents are just waiting for the opportunity to reach out and talk with WWE about coming over. That’s why they’re either not being used well or sitting at home, not being used at all. The AEW talents that I think would be served well by a move to WWE include Scorpio Sky, Sammy Guevera, Dr. Britt Baker, Action Andretti, and Aaron Solo, just to name a few. AEW has so many talented wrestlers under contract, but they’re not being used and are just sitting at home, collecting a check. It makes no sense.
How about a faction with Charlotte Flair, Tessa Blanchard, Dr. Britt Baker, and Shayna Baszler? Would it work? What would you call this group?
This would make for an impressive faction of lady wrestlers, but it would never work. Too many big egos involved. Plus, allegedly, of the four women mentioned, only Shayna plays well with others. The rest, not so much. This faction would never work. But if they were put together and we needed a name, the perfect one would be, with all apologies to Ethan Page, “All Ego!”. It would certainly fit.
