Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Former TNA Champion Josh Alexander has officially signed with AEW. Thoughts?
Alexander went to AEW, lost his debut match, and immediately turned heel. He’s off to a great start. And the question now is where does he go from here?
Stephanie McMahon has a new podcast coming out as part of WWE, called “What’s Your Story?”. Thoughts?
WWE is trying to create a Podcast Network. So far, Cody Rhodes and now Stephanie McMahon have been announced. I guess they’ve seen how much success Conrad Thompson and Jim Cornette have had with podcasting and want to get in on the action. Stephanie will be doing her’s every other week with her longtime best friend as her podcast partner. It should be interesting to listen to.
Roman Reigns’s contract with WWE expires after WrestleMania 42. Does Roman stay with WWE, go to AEW, move to Hollywood, or what?
Roman himself said that when the contract expires, he’ll probably do a few more years and then move on to something less physically taxing. So my guess is WWE for a while longer and then, a transition into Hollywood. Sounds like a plan to me.
Tony Khan says that WWE doesn’t “bench talent”. Thoughts?
I just answered a question about how WWE is not using Omos earlier today. When was the last time that Dakota Kai, The Wyatt Sicks, Carmelo Hayes, The Miz, Ridge Holland, Sheamus, or Tamina wrestled on television? I saw this quote and just started laughing. With all due respect to Mr.Khan, he’s full of shit!
If money was no concern and you could be in Las Vegas this week for WrestleMania week, would you?
Nope. Even if I could afford it, my health issues, plus my anxiety in crowded spaces would prevent me from enjoying myself and having a great time. I wish things were different, but it is what it is.
Do you think the physical toll on pro wrestlers is underestimated by fans?
Very much so. The wear and tear these men and women put themselves through physically for our entertainment is insane. And it all adds up over time. It takes a very special person to be a professional wrestler and endure what they put themselves through. Most of us could never understand it. These people are as tough as they come. It’s true. It’s damn true!
If you were contacted by Vince McMahon and he wanted to have a conversation about a new wrestling franchise, would you take the meeting?
Absolutely. Vince might be a perv, but he’s also still a billionaire with a lot of influence. I would absolutely take that meeting.
Do you believe Hulk Hogan still has a chance to make things right with fans and his peers?
Hogan is Hogan and has been Hogan for too many years. The chance to be universally loved and respected again sailed away many years ago and it isn’t coming back.
Is CM Punk finally rewriting his legacy in WWE, or are the past criticisms still valid?
The past criticisms are still valid, but wrestling fans are fickle and have short memories unless your name is Hulk Hogan. Punk is a cool dude and tends to be straight up 98% of the time. I think his legacy is in good shape.
Do you want to see Lita have a final WWE return?
Nope, not really. Lita wasn’t very impressive in her last return two years ago, and I doubt that the time away has done her any favors. A cameo or maybe a one-shot would be okay, but the ladies of the current WWE are so much better now, that I doubt that Lita could keep up. Any attempt at a longer run or feud would only tarnish her career and legacy.
