Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle versus Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser. Who wins?

Given how brutal and effective Slaughter was, pre-WWE, and how dominant this team of Slaughter and Kernodle was in the early ’80s, this would be a phenomenal match. It really is a tough call since Gunther is perhaps the perfect wrestler of this new era, and neither Kaiser nor Kernodle are pushovers by any means. If these two teams wrestled ten times, they’d probably split it 5/5. One match where there must be a winner? Let’s go with the Ring General and Ludwig, but just barely.

After losing a Mask versus Career match at GCW, Feugo Del Sol unmasked and left his boots in the ring. Is this the end of Fuego Del Sol? Thoughts?

I watched this and it brought tears to my eyes. Fuego removed the mask and said, in a post on X, that Fuego Del Sol is no more. If this is the end of a great career, it’s a shame. Feugo is a talented performer and I think he would do well as part of NXT. But then again, it could be the end of Fuego, but the start of something new. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I hope Fuego is sticking around though. He’s too good to end it this way.

Given her impressive victory at the Bloodsport event, do you think Natalya might end up with a stronger push by WWE? Should she?

If WWE doesn’t take notice of how well Natalya performed at the Bloodsport event, they’d be making a huge mistake. Natalya, as the babyface veteran character, might be a bit stale, but Nattie Neidhart, doing what she did at the Bloodsport event, has main event ass-kicker written all over her. That Nattie could easily match up with Bianca, Charlotte, or Rhea and probably kick their ass.

What are your memories of Number One Paul Jones, who passed away 7 years ago this week?

Paul Jones was a solid wrestler in the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida for the majority of the ’60s and ’70s. Jones wasn’t a big man, but he could hold his own against anyone. I still remember when he turned heel after tag team partner Ricky Steamboat turned on him at the end of a double-ring Battle Royal, and thus, Number One Paul Jones was born. Then he made the transition to manager, and although he wasn’t the best, he and Jimmy Valiant carried a feud that went strong for nearly five years. Jones was reliable, solid, and a North Carolina wrestling icon. And in my opinion, will always be #1.

Stone Cold Steve Austin says he can “still whoop some ass” but isn’t looking to get back into the ring. Would you like to see Austin have “one more match”? And if so, against who?

I’d love to see Steve get back into the ring for one last match. He might not be interested, but if WWE threw enough money in his direction, plus the story was good, I’m sure he’d have a conversation. As for who, how about the man who was misty-eyed in the background at the HOF last night, CM Punk?

Rey Mysterio had to be helped to the back at the end of Smackdown last night. If he can’t compete in his match at Mania Night One, who should take his spot and wrestle the match?

We’re just a few hours away from the start of Night One as I type this, so I have no idea what Rey’s current status might be. I hope he can go, but if he can’t, the replacement is obvious. Rey’s tag team partner, Dragon Lee. I would say Fenix, but whoever wrestles El Grande Americano needs to be able to lose the match to keep the story going. It’s too early for Fenix to start losing matches. Dragon Lee, as Rey’s partner, would be the perfect substitute.

Dutch Mantell & The Blade Runners (Sting & The Ultimate Warrior) versus The Legion of Doom, Animal, Hawk, and Paul Ellering. Who wins?

As big of a fan as I am of Dutch, he’s the weak link on his team. Ellering fits right in there with Animal and Hawk and was a fantastic wrestler in his own right. I don’t really see Sting and Warrior working well together, and Dutch would be there to take the fall. Ellering and the Road Warriors win.

Who is the better promo guy? MJF, CM Punk, John Cena, The Rock, or The Miz.

This one is tough because all of these men can turn it up when necessary and cut loose on the mic. The Rock and MJF are great with the delivery but seem to rely too much on scripted lines and catchphrases. The Miz can deliver when necessary but doesn’t get the chance often. So, we are down to Cena and Punk. Cena isn’t as good as he once was. It seems that the time away from the ring has weakened his promo ability. If you don’t use it, you lose it. So the winner and best promo guy? The best in the world, CM Punk.
