Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Do you really want Gunther vs Pat? Really?
Pat is an athlete and former NFL star who, based on his previous ring experiences, can handle himself and go. Gunther needs something to take away notice of the loss to Jey Uso at Mania. This is the perfect setup for both men. I think it will be a fun match.
Did you notice that in his HOF acceptance speech, Triple H thanked arguably every person that he’s ever worked with, except the Rock? He never mentioned Dwayne once. Thoughts?
I don’t think Triple H and The Rock are the best of buddies right now. Yes, I did notice that, and then I heard Brian Last point it out to Jim Cornette on their podcast for confirmation. Yes, I noticed.
Matt & Jeff Hardy lost the TNA Tag Team Championship to Ryan and Nic Nemeth. Does that mean Matt and Jeff are clearing their calendar for a return to WWE?
Once the smoke clears from the battles with the Nemeth Brothers, I expect to see Matt & Jeff spend more time with NXT. They did a trial run a few weeks ago, and it was reported that Matt, Jeff, and WWE officials met while in Vegas for WrestleMania and had some discussions. Dropping the TNA belts was step one. Matt & Jeff are headed back to WWE for one last run.
Do you want to see Sami Zayn as world champ someday?
It’d make for a heartwarming moment, but I just don’t see Sami as a World Champion. He’s talented and a good wrestler, but I just can’t see him as the top guy.
Carlito has been talking about wanting ‘to become a champion’. What title should he pursue? Which belt would be cool?
Maybe having Carlito go to NXT and challenge for the NXT North American Championship would work. It worked well for Dominik for his first singles championship. Teaming up with JD or Balor and going after the New Day would be fun to see as well. It’d be, pardon the pun, cool.
Rusev says that he fell into the abyss when he left WWE. Is that a subtle shot at AEW?
There was nothing subtle about it. I don’t think Rusev was happy in AEW and he just said it as clearly as possible without using those exact words. And the battles of words between AEW and WWE continue.
Naomi recently spoke about stepping away from WWE and having a family. Thoughts?
I guess that Naomi sees Becky and Alexa Bliss having babies and feels kind of left out. I can feel her on that. Time waits for no one and that biological clock keeps ticking. If Naomi feels this is what she needs to do, more power to her. Go have a baby and start a family. WWE will always welcome her back whenever she’s ready. Best of luck and best wishes.
Kevin Nash recently stated that he believes Triple H should have been the only inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Thoughts?
Kevin is just stirring the pot and talking to be talking. A one-person Hall of Fame Induction would never work, especially in today’s world. Triple H is deserving of the spot at the Hall of Fame, but he’s not good enough to pull off a solo event.
Oba Femi recently spoke about wanting to wrestle Brock Lensar and how they would main-event any show they were on. Thoughts?
This would be a fantastic match, and Femi is right. It could easily headline any wrestling show or arena in the world. Maybe eventually, WWE will take their heads out of their asses, reach out to the Beast, and this match can happen one day. One can only hope.
Would you like to see WWE bring back the Mixed-Match Challenge?
The mixed-match challenge, which was originally won by the team of Asuka and The Miz, was a fun series of matches and I was a big fan. Odd combinations of wrestling in intergender events, stood out from the normal, especially for WWE, and were very entertaining. I’d like to see WWE bring it back.
