Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Former TNA announcer Josh Matthews is now working for AEW in a backstage role. Do you think we’ll see Josh on Dynamite or Collision?

Josh’s current role, from what I understand, is more of a producer and liaison between the production truck and the agents, a job similar to what he has been doing in TNA for the past few years. It would be good to see Josh on air working as a commentator. He’s good at that job, and far better than Excalibar, or even Tony Schiavone on most nights. I’m sure that if AEW needs someone to step in and work the commentary role, Josh will be available.

WWE has abandoned the trademark for “Edge” in regards to wrestling. Does this mean Adam Copeland, aka Cope, will go back to that name in AEW?

WWE abandoned the name for the wrestler but still owns the rights to the name for clothing and merchandise, so it would be a major legal battle for Adam Copeland to attempt to use that name in AEW. And based on a piece I read last night, WWE has now changed its mind and is attempting to regain that trademark. So, we won’t be seeing Cope as Edge again anytime soon.

Do you want to see Nick Aldis return to the ring in WWE? And who would you want to see him face first?

I would enjoy seeing Nick Aldis wrestle again. He’s very good in that ring and could be a major player for the company. As for who, how about Solo Sikoa? They’ve had enough history between them on Smackdown that building to a match wouldn’t be difficult, and it would be a good match.

Do you think WWE should be doing more with Natalya on TV?

Based on what Natalya did at the Bloodsport event a few weeks ago, I would love to see Natalya in the title picture for WWE. WWE should use her on television more often.

Stevie Richards has recently made several subtle, yet funny, shots towards Disco Inferno on his podcast. Do you think there is heat between Stevie and Disco? Stevie Richards versus Disco Inferno. Who wins?

Stevie and Disco have been friends for nearly twenty-five years and Stevie is just ragging on his friend, as it’s good cheap heat and such an easy shot. They’re both probably laughing about it and trading phone calls ragging on each other. That’s what friends do. So far as a match between the two men would go, in their WCW prime, I think Stevie would get the victory, with help from the Flock, of course.

Do you think the Gunther versus Pat McAfee match is being used to set up a match between Gunther and Goldberg?

I don’t know if that’s the plan or not, but if that’s how it works, so be it. I think it’s just a way to rebuild Gunther after the loss at Mania, plus give McAfee a match.

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller versus Rex & Spot, The Moondogs. Who wins?

As much as I’m a fan of Theory and Waller, do they ever get any major wins? The Moonsogs had Captain Lou Albano in their corner and that would be the difference-maker. The Captain interferes and The Moondogs win the match.

What is your Mt. Rushmore of gimmicks/characters that literally made you cringe?

Bastion Booger immediately comes to mind, so that’s one. Hervina Whippleman, which was Downtown Bruno in drag, is #2. The Gobbledy Gooker would be #3. And to round things out, how about that classic WCW tag team, The Ding Dongs?

What would you think about a subscription-based wrestling promotion where the fans decide the matches, outcomes, and stipulations and everything goes through a voting system and the results play out on a live-streamed show?

It’s way too detailed and complicated. It would never work.

Before he retires at the end of the year, would you be interested in seeing the Nexus (Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Daniel Otunga, Curtis Axel) reunite and confront John Cena?

A one-shot where the former members of the Nexus show up on WWE television, air their complaints against Cena, and maybe do a group attack, leading to a babyface, maybe Cody, having to come out and make a save. That would be a good way to turn Cena back to baby face shortly before the final match and retirement. I don’t think WWE would do it, but I’d love to see something like this happen. It could also give a few of the former Nexus members a chance to possibly come back to the company. I’d love to see Slater and Gabriel, under his real name of PJ Black, back in WWE, maybe with Joe Hennig as their manager. That would be awesome.
