Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
A judge has declared that Billy Jack Haynes is mentally incompetent and unfit to stand trial for the murder of his wife. Thoughts?
No surprise about that. Haynes has been a walking nutcase for years and with every appearance and interview, just seemed to get worse and worse. He was the walking poster child for “Don’t Do Drugs!”. Haynes has long been mentally unstable, and it ended up costing his wife her life. From what I understand, she was suffering from dementia and was basically gone already, but still. At least now, he’s getting treatment. Sadly, he’ll never be a free man again, either in a mental health facility or prison. It’s not a surprise, though.
Lexis King recently did an interview where he referred to AEW as “developmental” for WWE’s lowest brand, Evolve. Thoughts?
Lexis, under his real name of Brian Pillman Jr., worked for AEW for almost three years and was wasted as a talent. King is just getting a few verbal jabs in and a little retribution. Nothing more. It’s not a big deal.
What do you think about AEW Dynamite finally beating NXT in viewership this week?
Even a clock is right twice a day, and eventually, even a blind squirrel will find a nut. One time, it doesn’t matter. If AEW can keep up the momentum and do this again, we’ll talk. Otherwise, it’s not a big deal.
Do you think we’ll see Chad Gable as a World Champion one day?
Gable is an amazing wrestler and talented guy, but the lack of size and prior booking, such as being booked as Shorty G, has killed a lot of his credibility. Gable will win many titles and have a great career in WWE, but I just can’t see him as either the WWE or World Champion. Mid-card titles and tag team belts, yes, but the big belts? Nope.
WWE Evolution 2 is about the women in WWE and their evolution in professional wrestling. Should WWE invite legends like Missy Hyatt, Baby Doll, Francine, Kimberly Page, etc., who were never part of WWE, but are still legends, to participate in the event?
That would be a nice tribute to the ladies of the past to have Missy, Baby Doll, Francine, Kimberly, and maybe a few former WWE Divas like Ivory, Victoria, Jazz, etc., at ringside and maybe making appearances to help promote the show. Give the ladies a payday, plus some exposure to the modern audience. It would be a nice gesture and add to the event.
What do you think about Saraya’s comments on Kane? Do you believe politics should affect personal relationships in wrestling?
A person who was addicted to drugs and dealing with multiple personal issues is complaining about how becoming a politician turned Kane from one of the nicest people in the business to an insane demon from hell. Saraya, aka Paige, has no credibility, nor room to talk about anyone, and how messed up that person has become. It seems that every time Saraya speaks now, she’s contradicting or embarrassing herself. Sad!
Tatanka is being advertised for next Saturday Night’s Main Event show. Are you excited for Tatanka’s return to the WWE?
I was never a big fan of Tatanka, but it’s always good to see a local boy make good and get a big moment. Tatanka is from Pembroke, NC, just a few miles up the road from where I currently live. He was never one of my favorite guys, as I know many good wrestlers with the Native American gimmick, such as my buddy, Michael Youngblood. But it’ll be good to see him back on WWE TV. Welcome home, Tatanka.
There are rumors about a possible Charlotte Flair versus Jade Cargill match for WWE Evolution 2. Would you like to see this match happen? Thoughts?
Charlotte versus Jade would be a good match. Physically, they’re similar in size, and on paper, this is an instant main-event match. Hopefully, it will live up to the hype. I’d like to see it.
Ivan Koloff versus Rusev. Who wins?
Rusev is the Bulgarian Brute, but Uncle Ivan, aka The Russian Bear, is a former WWWF Champion and true wrestling legend. This would be a great match. Ivan Koloff would come back in the end and take the win.
What do you think is holding WWE back from re-signing Matt Cardona?
Cardona says that he’s spoken with WWE many times, but an offer to return has never been made. Why? I don’t think WWE quite knows what to do with Matt. All of the things that make Cardona successful, The Death Match King, The Indy God, etc., probably wouldn’t work in today’s WWE. Cardona knows the WWE style, but would the WWE audience accept Zack Ryder again after seeing how good Matt Cardona has been and can be? I don’t think so. It would be a major letdown. If WWE can find a way to let Matt Cardona be Matt Cardona and not Zack Ryder in terms of work, presentation, the character, etc., it would work, but until they can figure that out, it wouldn’t work, and I think Triple H realizes that.
