Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Rocky Johnson & Tony Atlas are being inducted into the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Well deserved or a token induction? Thoughts?
It’s politically correct and looks good. There are plenty of teams that are deserving, but picking the team of Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas, who were only together for six months, just looks better than anything else. Congratulations to the Soul Patrol.
Jim Ross recently commented that he believed that Jack Perry was “scared shitless” during the CM Punk altercation at AEW All In in 2023. What do you think?
Jack Perry was a spoiled actor’s kid playing a wrestler. CM Punk had trained in MMA and has a legit shoot background. I think Ross may be correct in his assumption.
If John Cena went to management & requested to work with Brock Lesnar during his retirement tour, despite what’s going on with him, would WWE allow it?
Even if Cena asked, I don’t think TKO would allow Brock back at this point. They’re too afraid of the backlash and scandal associated with Brock, although he’s only been mentioned and is not one of the names actually being sued. I’d love to see Brock back, and it would make $$$ for the company. But it’s all about perception, so I doubt we’ll ever see Brock back.
Speedball Mike Bailey recently named Bryan Danielson as his “Dream Opponent”. Do you think this match will ever happen?
It would be a good match, but it will never happen. Danielson should not wrestle, and if they actually care about him at AEW, he will never be medically cleared or allowed to compete in the ring again. I feel for Bailey, but so long as common sense prevails, this match will forever remain just a ‘dream match’.
In Saraya’s tell-all book, she talks about anything and everyone except Alberto Del Rio. Was she right to leave Del Rio out of her book?
Leaving out Del Rio, the most prominent name in her personal history, and the first name that most readers would be seeking out, kind of defeats the purpose of writing a book about her life and career. She left out the most interesting part. But, if she did talk about Del Rio and got anything wrong, he most likely would file a lawsuit and get her for defamation. For the sake of not being sued and having to relive the entire Del Rio experience in a courtroom, leaving it out was probably the best decision.
The Crusher & The Bruiser versus Dusty Rhodes & Dick Murdoch versus Jimmy Snuka & Ray Stevens. Who wins?
Three classic and legendary teams of the past. This would be a brutal and bloody match. It’s a tough call, but I think I’d go with Stevens & Snuka for the win. After all, they had something that neither Bruiser & Crusher, nor Dusty & Murdoch, had to use to their advantage. They had Gene Anderson as a manager. And Gene, and that cane of his, would be the deciding factor.
Kevin Nash recently stated that it would take a minimum of $3,000,000 for him to step back in the ring and wrestle again. Thoughts?
Nash has bad knees, is 65 years old, and is extremely limited in what he can and can’t do inside the ring. Nash has conveniently priced himself out of any promoter’s asking point, and I can’t blame him. At this point, if he decides to take the risks of getting back into the ring, the possibility of major injury is way too high. If it happens, he deserves to be well paid to make it worth it.
Who becomes a World Champion first? Karrion Kross or Solo Sikoa?
I honestly don’t see either of these men as a World Champion, but if it were to happen, I think Solo has the best chance. After all, if his brother, Jey, is the World Champion now, anything is possible.
What are your thoughts on Ric Flair’s heartfelt tribute to Steve “Mongo” McMichael at AEW Collision?
Ric showed up, was respectful, only slurred a few words, and didn’t pull out the fake crocodile tears. He did far better than I was expecting, and while it wasn’t all the bells and whistles that I was expecting, it was a good moment to honor Steve McMichael. Why wasn’t Dean allowed to say a few words? Flair did well, though.
AEW Collision ended thirty minutes early due to technical issues, and the final two matches of the night weren’t aired. Thoughts?
I’ve seen the explanations by TBS and Tony Khan, and while it makes no sense to me, I’ll just file this under the ‘Shit Happens!’ category. It’s a bad situation for AEW, but hell, shit happens.
