Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
So I have always been a big fan of Penta, ever since I saw him in Lucha Underground. He has great talent and charisma, and the WWE fans love him. I know he’s 40 and not the biggest guy, but do you ever see him reaching that World Champion level in WWE?
Nope, I don’t. Penta has the age factor, as you noted, plus while he’s popular with the fans, he’s not quite on that level yet to be the top guy in the company. Also, except for Rey Mysterio, when was the last time WWE had a masked world champion? I expect Penta will hold the IC or maybe the U.S. title several times during his WWE tenure, but the top belts will forever be out of his reach.
Thoughts on Guilia already getting the call-up? And how long will it be before Stephanie Vaquer gets the call as well?
Guilia was ready when she was signed with WWE, but took some time in NXT to learn the WWE style of wrestling and television production, plus gave the fans a chance to know her before throwing her into the spotlight. Mission complete, and I expect she’ll do well as part of SmackDown. As for Vaquer, I expect we’ll see her join the main roster by SummerSlam, if not shortly afterward.
Mercedes Mone said when she signed with AEW that she would return to WWE before she retires. My question is, will WWE even want her? They are loaded with talent, and they don’t need her.
If Mone returns to WWE, she’ll have to most likely take a pay cut, plus go back to being one among many rather than being the big fish. Honestly, WWE doesn’t need her and if they did bring her back, it would be more nostalgia than any other reason. I don’t think she’ll be back anytime soon.
Who had the greatest entrance in the history of pro wrestling?
While they wouldn’t count as the greatest, two memorable entrances that I count as favorites are The Brood, where Gangrel, Edge, and Christian, rose from under the stage surrounded by fire, and the James Bond effects when The Bar, Sheamus, and Cesaro, made their appearances. And the GOAT of entrances? I’d have to say The Undertaker.
Should Austin Theory turn babyface?
He’s already getting more cheers than boos from the live crowds. A babyface run for Theory seems inevitable.
TNA is one TV deal away from becoming the #2 biggest Wrestling Company in America. Yes or No?
Yes.
The Mexicools, Juventud Guerrera, Super Crazy & Psicosis, versus The Colons (Carlito, Epico, and Primo). Who wins?
When everyone was younger and in their prime, this would have been a great match. Puerto Rico’s style versus the Luchadore style featured in Mexico. It’s a tough call, but I think the Colon Brothers and their cousin would have the advantage. The Colons would win.
Sean Waltman recently said that he’s open to one more match. Would you like to see Waltman return to the ring, and if so, against whom?
If Waltman wants to return to the ring, that’s his prerogative, but I think he’s probably better off sticking with training others and sharing his experiences and wisdom rather than risk injury by wrestling again. But, if he was to get into the ring, how about X-Pac versus Dirty Dom Mysterio? That would be a fun match.
Do you think Alberto El Patron should have a place in WWE’s new vision for AAA, or is it time to move on?
It’s time to move on. Patron, aka Alberto Del Rio, belongs in jail, and not in the wrestling ring.
Do you think Jeremy Borash’s involvement will improve AAA’s presentation, or should WWE leave it to the existing team in Mexico?
Borash’s involvement will help improve the production quality and tweak the product slightly to bring it more into the modern era. I see it as nothing, but a good thing.
