Thoughts & Predictions

Coming up on Sunday night, live from Glendale, Arizona, is AEW Double or Nothing 2025. It’s live on PPV. And you know what that means. At least a dozen matches and a ton of craziness. This will be a put-up or shut-up night for AEW as their signature event is running directly opposite the WWE NXT Battleground. But it’s just a coincidence. HBK said so. Regardless, it’s an epic event and that means one more batch of predictions as I gaze into the Magic 8-Ball and try to make sense of the madness and predict some winners and losers. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay and Harley Cameron.
I think I’ve seen Anna Jay & Harley team up before, but have Bayne and Penelope ever been a team before this? This match just feels like filler to me. I guess we’ll go with Anna Jay and Harley Cameron for the win. I hope Harley brings her puppet.
Winners: Harley Cameron and Anna Jay.
2025 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Final – The winner earns an AEW Women’s World Championship match at All In.
Jamie Hayter vs. Mercedes Moné.
Jamie Hayter doesn’t stand a chance. Mercedes versus Toni at All In is a big money match. Hayter going for the title, is not.
Winner of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament and going on to fight for the AEW Women’s Championship: Mercedes Moné.
AEW World Tag Team Championship
The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) (c) (with MVP) vs. The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara).
Look for MJF to get involved and the Champions retain.
Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) w/ MVP.
AEW Women’s World Championship
“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Mina Shirakawa.
Toni is timeless and with her chin up and tits out, she’s keeping her belt.
Winner and STILL AEW Women’s Champion: Timeless Toni Storm w/ Luther.
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) vs. Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness.
Arguably the best tag team in AEW versus a dancer and an announcer. FTR isn’t what they were, but they’ve still got this one locked up.
Winners: FTR w/ Stokley.
Stretcher Match
Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet.
Why is this a stretcher match? How has this feud built to such epic proportions that a stipulation of this nature is required? Or did someone throw a dart at the wall and it hit “stretcher”? It makes no sense. Briscoe deserves so much better than this garbage. Ricochet wins.
Winner: Ricochet.
Anarchy in the Arena
Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, and The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata) vs. Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson).
So, who gets hit by the golf cart this time? This match had so much potential at first, but it’s just a throw-together pile of garbage wrestling at this point. So many talented names, but even guys like Samoa Joe, Omega, Claudio, etc., won’t be able to save this house fire. Wait, I’d better not save fire. There’s precedent for setting people and homes on fire. Forget I said anything. It’s a tough call, but I think The Bore Horsemen and The EVPs will get the win.
Winners: Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson).
AEW Continental Championship
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
I’ve recently seen videos of Okada working in Japan. What the hell happened? That wrestler was impressive. This one, not so much. Bailey is a talented dude, and I’m sure this match, although it will run too long, will be bearable. Okada has had his time and well, enough is enough, and it’s time for a change. I think we’ll see a new champion.
Winner and NEW AEW Continental Champion: Speedball Mike Bailey.
Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander).
I haven’t been following this one very much. When did Cole and his friends get a name? I have no idea. Let’s just flip a coin for this one. Heads for ADAM! Tails for the Callis Family. Heads it is.
Winners: Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong).
2025 Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Final – The winner earns an AEW World Championship match at All In.
“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Will Ospreay.
This should be a good match if they keep it relatively short and avoid all of the smoke and whistles. Just let these two guys wrestle, in the ring, and have a match, and it should be excellent. So, instead, we’ll have tables, chairs, interference, bottles, and singing nuns, right? It’s a tough call, wrestling-wise, but Ospreay has done such an excellent job as of late of spreading the propaganda and sharing the Kool-Aid, that he should probably be rewarded.
Winner of the 2025 Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament and Number One contender for the AEW Championship: Will Ospreay.
