Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Do you agree with Ricochet that fans would complain no matter what, or should AEW actually trim the length of their pay-per-views?
Wrestling fans are indeed a fickle bunch, and yes, no matter how good something is, they will find a reason to complain. But, in terms of the length of AEW PPV events, they are too long. With the pre-show and the post-show scrums, they can run as long as 7 hours sometimes. That’s a full day almost and too much of anything for the casual fan.
Jacy Jayne defeated Stephanie Vaquer for the NXT Women’s Championship. Thoughts?
This was a surprise, but it’s strapping a rocket to Jayne, so we can see how she does as the new NXT Champion. This is how stars are made, plus it frees up Vaquer for the main roster, as well as AAA events. WWE is keeping us on our toes with moves like this. I love it.
How do you feel about Santana’s WWE debut? Do you think he’s the one to dethrone Trick Williams and reclaim the TNA gold?
Mike Santana would be a great choice to bring the gold back home to TNA. He’s very underrated and has the potential to be a huge name someday. I’m interested in seeing how this goes.
Ethan Page beat Ricky Saints to capture the NXT North American Championship. Thoughts?
This was a good match and the wins keep on coming for Page. Now, he’ll be headed to Worlds Collide and AAA, while Saints does the rebound and possibly moves into the title scene against Oba Femi. As I said in my earlier comment, WWE is keeping things interesting, and this is just another example.
Do you think Jordynne Grace should stay in NXT to guide the division or head straight to Raw or SmackDown?
Grace is ready to be on the main roster. She’ll do well regardless of which brand she’s working under, but Grace versus Tiffany Stratton, or Grace versus Iyo Sky could both be fun matches. Move her to the big show and let’s see what happens.
According to Jonathan Coachman, Vince McMahon wants to buy WWE back from TKO. Thoughts?
I like Coach, but in this, he’s talking to be talking. The question would be, does TKO want to sell WWE, and also, could Vince afford it? TKO is there to make money and a profit, and even if they did decide to sell, the price would be much higher than what they paid, to ensure a maximum return. I doubt that even Vince could come up with that kind of cash.
Is Hulk Hogan the most OVERRATED wrestler of all time?
I don’t like Hogan, but he was the principal character for two major eras of wrestling, being Hulkamania in the ’80s, and the nWo/Monday Night Wars in the ’90s. His career has been legendary, and no one can take that away from him, like him or not. So, that would be a No! Most overrated? How about Bret Hart?
According to CNN, John Laurinaitis was dropped as a defendant in the Janel Grant lawsuit and will now aid Grant in her lawsuit against Vince McMahon and TKO. Thoughts?
Johnny Ace is a rat and flees the ship to save his butt. We’ll just call him Judas Ace from now on. I don’t think this will matter or change things in the big picture. Eventually, a settlement will be made and Grant will get paid, and this will all go away.
Are you surprised that top talents are pushing to be part of Bloodsport? Who would you want to see step into that ring next?
I’m not surprised at all. Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport has a great reputation and an appearance, especially a victory, instantly adds credibility to one’s name and reputation. Plus, it’s different than the usual wrestling event, and who doesn’t appreciate a good challenge? As for who would be interesting to see compete, Oba Femi, Omos, Chad Gable, and Brock Lesnar all come to mind.
CM Punk spent about two years in AEW, and it’s been nearly two years since he returned to WWE. Without bias, which run has been better?
In AEW, Punk was a multiple-time champion and had a memorable feud with MJF. He also spent a lot of time injured and dealing with backstage politics and other issues. In WWE, Punk hasn’t won any titles, but has had memorable feuds with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, and seems to always be in the top mix. And most importantly, he always seems to be smiling and having fun. That last part, being happy means far more than any title or financial reward. I’ll say the WWE run.
Cut one to make a Top Three: Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, and The Undertaker.
This isn’t even a hard choice. The Rock is a legendary entertainer, but he’s not the wrestler, nor does he have the in-ring legacy that compares to the other three. The Rock is eliminated.
