Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
What’s next for Jey Uso?
Most likely, some rematches against Gunther and then a return to Brother Jimmy and some tag team action. I could see Jey making a challenge for Dominik Mysterio’s IC title, but I think he’ll mainly be an attraction with some appearances in AAA and the tag team scene.
Danhausen’s contract with AEW expires in July, barring injury time being added. So, what’s next for Danhausen? Do you think he’ll stay in AEW, be snatched up by WWE, or become an Indy darling?
Once that contract expires, Danhausen will go back to working the Independents, maybe GCW, and making appearances. I don’t see TNA or WWE in his future.
Booker T. says that he can see Ron Killings winning the WWE Championship. Would you like to see Killings challenging for the top belts?
I would love to see it happen and can see it happening. Ron Killings is a serious wrestler and former 2-time NWA Champion. A brief title run makes sense to me.
WWE dropped some new merchandise for JD McDonagh with the nickname Iron Lung, obviously referring to the incident where he broke a rib and punctured a lung but finished the match. What are your thoughts on this new nickname? Appropriate or tacky?
It’s somewhat cringe in my opinion, but if JD is good with it and it makes him some money, go for it. JD opened a of eyes and earned everyone’s respect with that match, and anything to give him a push and help him get over, I’m very cool with.
Would you ever let Matt Riddle smack you with a kendo stick?
Riddle can smack me with his kendo stick anytime he wants to. He’s somewhat annoying, but he’s a good-looking dude.
Shotzi has been referring to herself as the “Death Match King” and “Indy God” in recent posts on X. Matt Cardona, who owns the patents for those terms in pro wrestling, is demanding that she take down her posts and threatening legal action. Thoughts?
It’s an angle, as now, they’ll be having a Death Match, a Boss of All Bosses match, at the GCW event in Dallas, TX, on July 11. That should be a fun match worth seeing.
There are rumors that Gunther will be defending the World Championship against AJ Styles at Night of Champions. Would you like to see this match?
Gunther versus AJ Styles would be a good match, worthy of a PLE. I’d like to see it. There are also some rumors floating around that Goldberg will be showing up on RAW Monday and may be setting up his retirement match against Gunther at the Saturday Night’s Main Event show from Atlanta in July. We’ll have to watch and see about that, but so far as Gunther and AJ go, that would be cool to see.
Bayley is going after Becky Lynch and the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Thoughts?
Anytime we have Becky and Bayley in the same ring, it’s going to be a solid match, and as Sheamus would call it, a banger. This should be fun.
What are your thoughts and memories of The Latin Heartthrob Al Perez?
I mainly remember Al from his time in WCW with Gary Hart as his manager. A good-looking guy with a ton of charisma, but never seemed able to break through that glass ceiling. He was rumored to be the Black Scorpion but went to the WWF instead, and that didn’t last long, allegedly due to inappropriate comments by Pat Patterson. The main thing I think of with Perez is wasted potential. He had all the tools to be a huge star, but it just didn’t work out.
CM Punk trashed the WWE relationship with Saudi Arabia five years ago, before coming back to the company, referring to it as “blood money”. And now, he’s going to Saudi Arabia to wrestle John Cena at Night of Champions. Is Punk a hypocrite?
To a point, yes, he is. But then again, so is Sami Zayn. So was Kevin Owens. Times change and people change. And money talks. Nothing is permanent and forever, but death and corrupt politicians. Punk felt one way at one time, and now he’s changed his mind, for whatever reason. He’s human. People do that. Even CM Punk.
