Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Are you excited to see The IInspiration back in TNA?
After a three-year absence, Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee, aka The IIsnpiration, formerly known as the IIconics in WWE, are back in TNA. They’re a good team, entertaining on the mic, and will add some depth to the Knockouts Tag Team Division. I’m glad to see them back.
In a recent interview, Terri Runnels admitted that she begged Vince McMahon not to make her wrestle while in WWE. Thoughts?
While it’s hard for me to think of a woman in WWE not willing to wrestle or take bumps in today’s era, I can see her point. Terri was a smaller woman and not trained to be a wrestler or take bumps, and given her character, she didn’t need to. She ended up wrestling anyhow, but Terri, to me, falls in the same category as Woman, Miss Elizabeth, or Debra McMichael. She added to the product without being physical inside that ring. Being booked for matches was just unnecessary.
Rikishi is calling for WWE writers to be fired after Jey Uso’s title loss. Thoughts?
The writers don’t make the booking decisions. They simply write the story to lay out the results that the boss, this being Triple H in WWE, wants. Rikishi is just being grumpy because Jey lost the World Championship and is talking to make noise. Nothing more.
Allegedly, one side has issues with WWE star The Miz and AEW stars Wardlow and Kamille appearing on American Gladiators together. Which side do you think it is, and why?
Which company tends to get their feelings hurt more when they don’t get their way? I’m just guessing, and I hope that I’m wrong, that WWE might be the one who isn’t happy. Kamille and Wardlow are both contracted to AEW and even though they’re not being used well, AEW had to approve for them to be on this show being hosted by Miz. So, AEW already knew what to expect. But WWE allowing two AEW talents on a show that their guy is hosting? I can see where some unhappiness might be coming in. It’ll be interesting to see how this all turns out.
John Cena versus Harley Race. Who wins?
The GOAT of WWE versus The Toughest Man on God’s Green Earth. With both in their prime, this would be an interesting and epic match. And as much as I hate to say it, Cena would win.
Omos has signed a new multi-year contract with WWE. Thoughts?
Hopefully, this means that now they’ll do something with him and use him regularly. Omos is too unique to continue to let sit at home and continue to waste.
The team of Private Party, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, contracts with AEW are said to be expiring soon. Do you think AEW will re-sign them or will they be moving on to another promotion? If so, who?
I’ve heard that WWE has a strong interest in them and they are a good team with a lot of potential. AEW may make an offer, but I think they’ll be moving on when their contracts expire. They would need a reboot and a few changes to allow them to stand out from the WWE team, The Street Profits, but it could be done and they would do well in WWE or NXT.
Should pro wrestling bring back the automatic over-the-top-rope disqualification rule?
Nope. That rule is better off forgotten.
Triple threats are automatically no disqualification and often have blatant interference and weapons being used. Should that rule be changed?
The rule should be changed so that DQs are allowed, but the match continues. If a wrestler uses a weapon or has interference, they’re out of the match and sent to the back. The other wrestlers continue with the match. The No DQ in multi-man matches has become a crutch for the writers and, as Cornette would say, lazy booking. Keep the finishes as clean as possible. I think the fans would appreciate it.
Omos versus The Big Show. Who wins?
With these two big men, it could be a good match. While neither is Ric Flair or Rick Steamboat, neither of these giants is El Gigante or Nick Gulas either. Based on experience, I think Big Show would win. He would know he’s been in a match though.
