Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
A trade. Pete Dunne to AEW in exchange for Dax Harwood to WWE. Yes or no?
If Dax was bringing Cash Wheeler with him, bringing FTR back to WWE, I’d be all for this trade. Dunne is better than most of the AEW crowd and would do well in that company. But if Dax is coming back as a solo act, let him stay in AEW.
In light of the bombing strikes on Iran by the U.S., should WWE cancel or reschedule the shows in Saudi Arabia?
I don’t see how WWE can do these shows in Saudi Arabia, given the way that tensions have gone crazy over there in the Middle East. I’m not sure how they’ll handle the events, but this puts WWE in a major bind. My guess is to reschedule with the Saudis to go later in the year and do a couple of shows then. And scramble to either secure an arena or use the Performance Center for Smackdown and Night of Champions. It’s a crazy situation and it’s going to cost TKO a lot of money, but WWE has to do something. Saudi Arabia has to be out of the question right now.
As things stand, what is your predicted Mania card next year?
I honestly have no idea about this one. We’ll see CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Rhea in the main events, plus I expect Dom Mysterio will have a major match. But there are so many talented wrestlers in WWE right now, plus NXT, AAA, Evolve, and TNA might need to be figured in as well, it’s almost impossible to figure out that far ahead.
Stone Cold Steve Austin told multiple people around WrestleMania week that he might “have one more in him” regarding another match. Would you like to see Austin have one more match? And if so, against who?
Stone Cold Steve Austin back for one match? Give me a hell yeah! And as for who, either the long-awaited dream match with CM Punk, or Austin versus Dominik Mysterio.
The Casino Gauntlet has been added to AEW All In Texas. Are you excited for the return of this match?
Gauntlet matches and Battle Royals are way overused in AEW and done way too often. For me, it’s just another long match, and nothing more.
While speaking to fans in New York, Alexa Bliss says she’s 100% open to joining the Wyatt Sicks. Would you like to see Alexa as part of that faction?
Let’s see how this rivalry with Charlotte Flair goes first, and take it from there. But yes, I would like to see Alexa hook up with the Wyatt Sicks. Just imagine, Alexa and Nikki Cross as the Women’s Tag Team Champions, while Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy have the WWE Tag Team Titles. And Bo, aka Uncle Howdy, plays the boss, while Erick Rowan is the team enforcer. That sounds like a good time to me.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins got into a heated altercation at Fanatics Fest, yelling and shoving each other. Thoughts?
It’s the feud that never quits and keeps on giving. CM Punk and Seth Rollins are keeping kayfabe alive and if WWE needs a go-to match or feud, Seth and Punk are always available. It’s called doing what is best for business.
Powerhouse Hobbs recently spoke about how he wants a match with Paul Wight, aka The Big Show. Would you like to see this match? Should AEW make it happen?
The last time I remember seeing Wight, on the Jericho Cruise, he looked bad. Very bad. And I seem to recall Wight having knee surgery or needing a replacement. Whatever the reason was, Wight had no business trying to have a match or wrestle again. A match with Powerhouse Hobbs and Big Show, a few years ago, would have been good and fun to see. But with Wight in the condition that he’s in now, I doubt it will ever happen, nor should it. Wight needs to get his body fixed and retire.
Ernie Ladd versus Batista. Who wins?
Two great athletes, this would be a good match. Ladd is taller than Batista and is the better in-ring wrestler. Batista has the power and strength advantage, plus probably a speed edge as well. Ladd was the better character and talker too. It’s a tough call, but I think the outcome would be Batista winning by DQ. I can’t see a clean finish for this match.
Would you tune in for a WWE-themed late-night show? Think it’s time for WWE to launch a comedy-driven or talk-style brand?
This question stems from a copyright filing for WWE Late Night. And given how bad late-night television has become, a late-night WWE talk show of some type would work quite well and be pretty cool. I remember Tuesday Night Titans, the precursor to RAW, where Vince McMahon and Lord Alfred Hayes hosted a talk show format with WWF Stars and skits. Imagine a show now, late at night, with a charismatic character interviewing stars from WWE, NXT, AAA, TNA, and legends. In today’s world, I think that show would draw even non-wrestling fans, and be a major hit. Of course, I’m speculating, but in the world of TKO and WWE 2025, this idea would make money and work.
