Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline has now officially been renamed MFT (My Family Tree). Thoughts?
I guess being called Bloodline 2.0 was getting a little old, and they (Solo & friends) wanted something original and catchy to put on T-shirts. MFT isn’t too bad.
Juice Robinson and the Gunns are back in AEW. Thoughts?
The Bang Bang Gang is back in AEW to bang around once more. Good for them.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena won the Gauntlet Match and has a contract to wrestle Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship. Thoughts?
This makes sense. Athena has been the ROH Women’s Champion for nearly two years but is mostly forgotten over at ROH, and it has to be frustrating. This allows someone with a proven track record to face someone with a proven track record, plus Athena versus Toni should be fun. Just imagine the promos we’re going to get. This should end up as a really fun feud.
Rikishi recently mentioned that he wants to build a faction with Jacob Fatu, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Zilla Fatu, and Roman Reigns, with himself as the Wise Man. Thoughts?
Is this pro wrestling or a reboot of My Three Sons? Rikishi wants to recreate the Bloodline, but with himself in the Paul Heyman spot. It sounds intriguing, but it’s just a reboot of the Bloodline story and a little more.
Who was a wrestler that you knew was a can’t-miss talent, but for whatever reason, politics, injuries, gimmicks, booking, etc., didn’t work out, and the career was a disappointment?
Sean O’Haire is the first name that came to mind. The man had it all, but the politics and affiliation with Roddy Piper destroyed his WWE run. Mike Awesome is another one. The bad gimmicks and booking in WCW, plus the politics and bad vibes from jumping from ECW to WCW ruined him.
Will Jade Cargill have a better WWE Career than Bobby Lashley?
Lashley is a multiple-time champion and legit superstar. Jade has the looks and charisma, but her in-ring skills seemingly have plateaued. She’s not improving or getting better. I doubt she’ll ever be in Lashley’s league.
Jelly Roll versus Travis Scott? Yes or no?
No, we don’t need that. I’m hesitant about Jelly even though I’m a huge fan of his music. But Travis Scott brings nothing to the table and the less we see of him, in any role, the better.
Which WWE do you enjoy better—pre-TKO or post-TKO?
For the matches, the stories, and things making more sense, I prefer the post-TKO, aka The Triple H era. Vince’s style of booking had me scratching my head more than once.
I’m looking at the main roster, and there’s an alarming number of big names who are 40 and older. Styles, Punk, McIntyre, Priest, Zayn, Cody, Penta, the list goes on. Do you think there will be a significant youth movement shift within the next 5 years, similar to the mid-90s with “The New Generation”?
So long as the older stars are performing well, being consistent, and entertaining, I have no problems with their continued presence. WWE has a good mix of older veterans, younger talent just hitting their prime, and stars of tomorrow. Any shifts will be gradual and make sense as they happen, as they should be.
Who do you want to see as John Cena’s final opponent?
The most recent rumors say it will be Gunther, and fresh off of his retirement of Goldberg, that makes sense. But if not Gunther, the next name that comes into mind is Bron Breakker. He’s already a star on the rise and has a tremendous family legacy behind him, but just imagine if he added retiring John Cena to his resume. That would be awesome.
