Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Were you a fan of Big John Studd?

I was. Studd wasn’t the best wrestler, but he had a strong presence and was the bad guy you loved to hate. I was fortunate enough to see him live many times, working for Crockett, including a show in Lumberton, NC, where he wrestled Andre the Giant. The match wasn’t all that, and Andre won by DQ when Studd lifted Andre over the top rope. At the time, throwing an opponent over the top rope was an automatic DQ. But they did the match, and in my then-14-year-old eyes, it was a larger-than-life experience that I’ll never forget. I also got to see Studd and Wahoo McDaniel have a match. I think this was in Dilon, SC. They just literally beat the shit out of each other. Good times.

Which show did you like better? TNA Slammiversary or AEW All In: Texas.

TNA for sure. I actually knew all the wrestlers, most of the stories, and it was only a little over three hours. All In ran for nearly seven hours, and I had no idea who 75% of the wrestlers were or why they were fighting.

Will Seth Rollins have to give up the Money in the Bank Briefcase, now that he got injured?

Seth has a year, until next June, to cash in the MITB contract. There is no reason to take the briefcase away from him.

Do you believe Jey Uso’s World Heavyweight Title reign was cut way too short?

Yeah, it probably was too short, but it elevated his status to forever being a former World Champion, so mission accomplished.

I enjoyed the heel work of both Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold…which do you prefer?

Stone Cold Steve Austin as a heel didn’t work for me. It didn’t feel real or natural. Hulk Hogan, as Hollywood Hogan, was great. It’s the only time I’ve ever felt Hogan was being himself, the real Hogan amplified 100%. It was like the curtain was pulled back and we were seeing the real deal for once.

How high is Juice Robinson’s ceiling?

Juice Robinson may be a tag champion or even the TNA Champion at some point, but that will be it. I can’t see him as a potential World Champion. I might be wrong, but I don’t think so.

Do you think Wardlow could perhaps be signed by WWE?

When the time with AEW ends, I can definitely see Wardlow having a run with WWE or NXT.

Does Edge make your top 20 for WWE Champions?

Maybe, but probably not. Edge has his moments, but I’ve never been an Edgehead and can think of many WWE Champions I’d rather watch in action. And yes, there are probably more than twenty of them.

Give me three names who know more about wrestling than Vince McMahon.

Vince knew his product and the WWE, but wrestling in general, especially things happening outside of WWE, was never his forte. Three names who know more about wrestling? Jim Cornette, Paul Heyman, and Meltzer all immediately come to mind.

Do you think Jim Ross’s contributions to wrestling are unappreciated?

The younger, newer fans don’t get it, but anyone who knows about the territories or has any knowledge of pro wrestling pre-2000 definitely understands and appreciates JR.

Who did WWE fumble the hardest? Samoa Joe, Toni Storm, Cesaro, or Swerve Strickland?

Of these four, I would say Cesaro. For a time, Cesaro was as hot as anything in WWE history, but what did Vince do? A tag team with Sheamus. Don’t get me wrong. The Bar was easily one of the best tag teams of that era, and they were great, but Cesaro had that magic connection, that “It”, and Vince just didn’t notice or see it.

Both Trick Williams and Jacy Jayne had great nights at TNA Slammiversary, with Williams retaining the TNA Championship, while Jayne became a double-champion. Who would you like to see challenge for those belts?

A great challenger for Trick and the TNA Championship, how about former NWA Champion, the Death Match King and Indy God, Matt Cardona? And to challenge Jacy Jayne, the better half of Matt’s life, Chelsea Green? Works for me.
