Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Should WWE hold an annual event like the Andre the Giant Battle Royal or the Mae Young Classic to honor Hulk Hogan?
There are already events for Mae Young, Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior, and Dusty Rhodes, so what could be done to make something new and special, and where would it fit on the WWE schedule? It’s a quality idea and I like it, but WWE has so many other things going on right now, I don’t know what they could do or how they’d make it work without detracting from something else.
How would you honestly rate John Cena’s run as Undisputed Champion out of 10, 100 days in?
It’s been less than exciting or impressive in my opinion. On the scale of 1-10, I’d probably go with a 5.
Another 10-Bell tribute to Hulk Hogan on NXT this week. Too much? Thoughts?
It’s Hulk Hogan, and if anyone in wrestling deserves the tribute from WWE, Hogan is the one. And if you think this is a lot, wait until we lose Vince McMahon. Even Evolve will be ringing bells then.
WWE Talent Jamar Hampton, who appeared on Season 1 of WWE LFG and Evolve, posted on Instagram, “Is this really who we should be celebrating? Do ya research.”, along with a transcript of Hogan’s racist comments, along with a video about the scandal. Jamar last wrestled for WWE in June. Thoughts?
Who is this clown? He’s only been in the WWE system for a few months. I hope he wasn’t getting too comfortable because his mouth just ended his potential WWE career. If he were established, he could say dumb stuff and maybe get away with it, but this early into the ride, this is absolute ignorance. Regardless of how he feels, this is career suicide. Oh well, maybe AEW has an opening. He won’t be long for WWE or any company affiliated with WWE after this.
The Hurricane versus Mr. Iguana. Who wins?
The stuffed lizard is cool, and Mr. Iguana makes me smile, but against a former boy-band star and the WWE’s resident superherp, the Lizard Man is going down. Now, whassup with that!
Nia Jax returned to NXT and laid out Lash Legend. Thoughts?
Nia wasn’t being used much currently on the main roster, so she’s in NXT building her legacy and taking the new kid, Lash Legend, to school. That’s the good thing with WWE right now. If you don’t have a story on the main roster, then NXT, TNA, AAA, and Evolve are all available as well. It’ll be fun to see Nia and Lash feud for a while.
Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident a few days ago and was cited for following too closely and reckless driving. He has a court date in August. Thoughts?
The stories of Vince’s bad driving are legendary. Cornette and Jim Ross won’t ride with him, and I’m sure they’re not the only ones. Why is a 79-year-old billionaire driving himself around anyhow? I’m just glad no one was seriously injured or killed.
What are your thoughts and memories of Captain Lou Albano?
The Captain was a very unique character. He talked faster than John Moschitta Jr., the fast talker in all the old FedEx commercials, and usually made less sense. But the Captain was a legendary manager for the WWE and managed 13 teams to 15 WWE Tag Team Championship reigns. His friendship with Cyndi Lauper helped spear the rock & wrestling connection, and the man wasn’t afraid to bleed. A wrestling legend and iconic figure in every sense of the word.
After nearly six years, Tony Khan has made a change in AEW and is now holding full production meetings for television. Thoughts?
Now, let’s see if it helps make the shows more watchable. It sure as hell can’t hurt.
Is Bryan Danielson overrated?
Bryan Danielson was lightning in a bottle and the right person at the right time, which the fans decided was one of the best. And while that’s debatable, the man made a mark and a legacy to be proud of. I don’t think he’s one of the best, and yes, he is overrated in many ways. I think the injuries and reckless disregard for his health and safety have dimmed the fire a bit and are damaging that legacy. I think he’s not quite what he’s believed to be, but so long as the fans believe it and keep supporting him, it’s all good.
