Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

How would you rate AAA TripleMania XXXIII on a scale of 1-10?

I’d say maybe a six or seven at best. I went back and rewatched it again yesterday, and I’m just not feeling it. It was well produced and flowed well, but it seemed more like an edition of WWE Evolve than a PLE or mega-card event. It was okay and watchable, but not outstanding or great.

Dick Murdoch would have been 79 today. What are your thoughts and memories of Captain Redneck?

A solid worker, who seemed more like a pissed-off trucker than a professional athlete, but he had a realism that is rarely seen today. He was relatable. He wasn’t a guy I’d use as a champion, but for fights and brawling, there were few better.

Let’s say you were a wrestler who was in their prime and were offered contracts by AEW or WWE, all things being equal, which would you choose? All things being equal?

Do I want the easy money or the chance to improve and have a longer, more significant career? The chances of becoming a major star are harder in WWE because the roster is so strong and the talent is so much better, but if you do make it, you have a longer career and legacy. I’d go with WWE.

Microman? Really? Thoughts?

Microman took me out of the show and had me shaking my head. I thought I was watching the legless guy in the AEW Battle Royal again. This dude makes Hornswoggle look like John Studd in comparison. There is a place for the Minis in wrestling, but in a Rumble-like match on a huge event like TripleMania, that’s not it.

Konnan is now officially an AAA Hall of Famer. Does he belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?

Yes, he does.

The New Day, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, versus The New Breed, Chris Champion & Sean Royal. Who wins?

I remember The New Breed and their claims to be from the future, the year 2002, and came back in time to rid professional wrestling of Jimmy Valiant and Laser Tron. They were a good team. But, are they New Day good? I don’t think so. Woods and Kofi win.

Pagano & Psycho Clown defeated Los Garza to become the new AAA World Tag Team Champions. Thoughts?

The WWE guys had a good, short run with the belts, and now, they’re back home with AAA talent, as they should be.

Omos won the Copa Berdahl Battle Royal. He’s back. Thoughts?

I had forgotten just how big Omos is compared to everyone else. He’s now listed in the WWE as an AAA talent, so it looks as if that’s where he’ll be mostly working now. I’m just glad to see him being used, and AAA will be a good place to learn and grow as a performer.

Did WWE pull the trigger on John Cena’s heel turn too late? Or should they have doubled down and let the story play out?

It never should have happened to begin with, and it dragged on far too long. It bombed from the very start, and the best thing that both we, as fans, and WWE should do is try to forget it ever happened.

Do you think AAA will ever reach WrestleMania-level streaming numbers now that WWE is involved?

The numbers have increased and will probably continue to do so. But WrestleMania-level numbers? I don’t think so.
