Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Would you be able to handle Ric Flair’s level of fame? Or would the constant attention drive you nuts?
I don’t even like leaving the house or even being around people in public, so a Ric Flair style of life wouldn’t suit me at all.
Do you think WWE cutting back on house shows is helping or hurting the talent?
I think it helps with having more time with the family and having a real life. But, as far as the talent and their in-ring skills, it hurts. Wrestlers can only get better through repetition and working in front of a live crowd. Not having the house shows causes ring rust and increases injuries. So, it’s a double-edged sword as well.
Bobby Eaton versus Kofi Kingston. Who wins?
What an amazing match this would be. Then, add that Bobby would have Cornette in his corner, while Kofi would have Xavier Woods at his side. The shenanigans would be crazy. Two high-flyers with amazing skills are incapable of having a bad match. The winner? The fans… and Bobby Eaton.
Katie Lea Burchill has mentioned that, after nearly 15 years away, she’d like to return to WWE. Would you be interested in seeing Burchill return to WWE?
I’m not sure what kind of physical shape Burchill is in, or how many current WWE fans would even remember her, but a Rumble appearance would be cool.
Seemingly, the Crown Jewel Championships, which debuted at Crown Jewel 2024, will not be defended or featured at Crown Jewel: Perth, in October of this year. Thoughts?
The Crown Jewel belts belong to the Saudi representatives. Crown Jewel, this year, is in Perth, Australia. Thus, no mention of the Crown Jewel titles or defenses of the belts. It’s just common sense and business.
Earlier this year, Tony Khan announced the creation of the ROH Women’s Pure Championship for the Ring of Honor women’s division. A tournament was announced to crown the inaugural champion, but now it appears AEW might have dropped plans for the title and tournament. Thoughts?
Tony must have realized that he doesn’t have a strong enough women’s roster to hold this tournament, nor enough interest in another belt. Either that or he’s simply forgotten about it, and it’s on the list in his head of great ideas that will never come to fruition.
Who should be the first inductees into the future AEW Hall of Fame?
If it ever happens, I’d say Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes, Jake Roberts, and Owen Hart.
The Iron Sheik versus Greg “the Hammer” Valentine. Who wins?
Two legends with opposite styles and methods of wrestling, but both were exceptional with what they did in the ring. Sheik would apply the moves, while Valentine would pound and ground. It’d be a classic encounter. I think that Valentine would score the win.
You’re a WWE mark. Why do you want AEW to go out of business?
I don’t want AEW to go out of business. I want AEW to get better and tighten up, to improve. AEW provides an alternative to WWE and provides a job for many talents to support their families, have a career, and explore their craft. I just don’t personally like the product they’re currently presenting and the Tony Khan booking style. It’s not what I enjoy. Neither is WWE all the time, but WWE is currently more enjoyable to me than AEW. And I prefer a good Indy show to either. I don’t want anyone to go out of business. I just want them to do better.
What is your most memorable WCW Nitro moment?
There are many to choose from, but two immediately come to mind. Ric Flair versus The Giant, when The Giant won his first WCW Championship. Picturing Woman on the back of The Giant, trying to choke him, and hanging on for dear life. And Arn Anderson’s retirement. That was a very sad day.
Rick Steamboat & Jay Youngblood versus Lex Luger & Sting. Who wins?
Two great teams from different eras. It’d be an interesting clash of styles and one hell of a fantastic match. I think Lex and Sting would probably score the win.
