Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Who is your favorite 4horsewomen?
The 4 Horsewomen of WWE are Becky Lynch, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks. And of the four, my current favorite is Becky Lynch.
It’s official. Hijo del Vikingo will defend the AAA Mega Title against Dominik Mysterio on Worlds Collide on 9/13. Thoughts?
Did you hear the huge pop that Dom got at TripleMania? He is easily the most popular name in AAA, and thus, this makes a lot of sense. The most popular star with the biggest reaction versus the champion. It’s Business 101, and this match is money.
How would you structure a wrestling off-season?
Wrestling is a 7-day-a-week, 52-week-a-year business, so an off-season with the whole show taking off is impossible. But working the schedules, so different wrestlers can have time off while other wrestlers have the spotlight, is relatively easy. Keep the focus on stories and schedules, and everyone should be happy.
Mandy Rose said on her podcast ‘Power Alphas’ that during her time in NXT, WWE had to keep cleaning the ring because of a herpes outbreak. Thoughts?
Herpes is mainly transmitted by either sexual contact or skin-to-body fluid contact. So, that makes me wonder what was happening inside that ring when they weren’t having matches or training. I would think that the mats were cleaned relatively often due to fears of staph or infections. Speaking of herpes just seems to me like Mandy is trying to make headlines and get attention.
Do you think Chris Bey will make a full in-ring comeback? What role could he play in TNA’s future once he returns?
As far as a return to in-ring activity, I hope it all works out for him and he can make a full recovery and return to that ring one day. If that’s not possible, give him a chance working in a creative role or as an agent. Maybe even working as a commentator. Give him a chance, and maybe he’ll surprise everyone.
Do you think Michelle McCool is unfairly judged because of her marriage to The Undertaker?
She’s getting many advantages that a wrestler of her history and stature would not normally get, all because of her marriage to the Undertaker, so most of the criticism seems to be justified. It comes with the territory, so she should be used to it. She has to take the bad with the good.
Would you want to see WWE revive the Thunderdome experience, or should it stay in the pandemic era?
It was interesting and worked for the time, but it’s best left in the past, as a memory and flashback.
Do you believe CM Punk has truly changed his reputation in WWE, or will his past always overshadow him?
I think CM Punk is the same person he has always been, outspoken and opinionated. But time takes its toll on everyone, and people evolve and change. And what happened in the past needs to be taken into context. It’s worth noting, but doesn’t matter in the here and now.
How do you feel about AAA talent becoming a regular part of WWE programming?
AAA is now part of WWE, so mixing the AAA roster in with the WWE roster makes sense. If it’s used to cross-promote the two brands and stories, it’s obviously good for business.
Jim Ross recently commented about Mick Foley and wondered why he doesn’t get his teeth fixed. Thoughts?
Maybe Mick doesn’t like dentists? Or maybe he’s just comfortable and doesn’t feel like going through the hassles. As long as Mick is happy, why should Ross care?
