Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
There are rumors that Ethan Page, the current NXT North American Champion, may be getting called up to the SmackDown roster to expand his on-screen partnership with Chelsea Green. Thoughts?
The chemistry between Chelsea and Page is excellent and very entertaining. Seeing them on the main roster together, wreaking havoc with their blend of comedy and great wrestling, would be over big time with the WWE audience. I’d like to see this happen.
Do you think AEW dropped the ball with Deonna Purrazzo?
Deonna came to AEW, fresh off a strong run in TNA, including time as the Knockouts Champion, and AEW used her sparingly at first, and then just seemed to forget she was there. Yeah, dropping the ball is a major understatement. AEW messed up, big time.
Are you planning to make the jump to ESPN’s streaming app for WWE?
As it stands right now, I will NOT be making the jump and wasting my money on the ESPN app. I live on a fixed income and I can catch the WWE PLE results online and watch the highlights on YouTube. I don’t have the extra money to waste or throw away.
What do you think of Ian Riccaboni joining AEW commentary more regularly?
He’s knowledgeable, personable, and a good announcer. He’s a million times better than the majority of other AEW announcers, so he’ll add to the product, and it’s a good role for Ian.
Do you agree with Doug Malo that AJ Mana was an “accessory to a crime,” or is he being unfairly blamed for Raja Jackson’s actions?
He brought Raja to the event, instigated the situation by feeding the hype, and pushed the anger with Jackson. He’s an instigator to the first degree. After Jackson himself, more blame goes to Mana than anyone else. Maybe he didn’t tell Jackson to be a thug and attempt murder, but he didn’t do anything to calm things down or stop it either.
Do you think ROH needs a TV deal right now to survive, or is HonorClub enough until the right partnership comes along?
A television deal would be nice, but so long as Tony can keep paying out money and supporting his hobby, they’ll survive. If Tony ever gets bored or if Daddy ever gets tired of throwing money away to indulge his spoiled, billionaire kid, ROH will become a memory and little more.
We hear about DDP all the time, but whatever happened to his ex-wife, Nitro Girl, and Diamond Doll, Kimberly Page?
From what I understand, Kimberly lives now in Park City, Utah, working in marketing and interior design. She’s no longer part of the wrestling business, and her other career goals, as an actor and model, seem to have ended as well.
The APA, Bradshaw & Ron Simmons versus The Road Warriors, Animal & Hawk. Who wins?
The APA versus The Road Warriors, both teams in their primes, would be an absolute banger of a match. What a fight! It would be brutal, physical, and go for much longer than anyone would otherwise suspect. A tough call, but I think Paul Ellering would be the difference maker here. And the Road Warriors would win.
AEW President Tony Khan says he would love to have Chris Jericho back “if and when the time presents itself”. Thoughts?
That reply says to me that he’ll make an offer, just to keep Jericho away from the WWE, but doesn’t really care anymore if Chris is part of AEW or not. The toy isn’t fresh, new, or as fun anymore, and Tony has new toys to play promoter/booker with. But he doesn’t want anyone else to play with his toys, so he’ll make an offer to keep Jericho anyhow. At least that’s how I see it.
