Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

What’s an old-school angle you’d like to see incorporated into modern wrestling?

I remember an angle with the Anderson Brothers, where Ole would smash an opponent into his brother, Gene, essentially sacrificing Gene to win a match. Gene ended up out of action, and Ray Stevens took his spot as Ole’s partner. Ole tried the same thing with Ray, trying to sacrifice him for a win, and Ray got mad and said no. And we got a great feud with Ole and Ray, two legends. Now, imagine if the New Day sacrificed Waller to win a match, but Waller said no. He brought back Theory as his partner to feud with The New Day. Instant classic. That’s just an example, and different names could be used, but the angle, while simple, would be effective and work.

Lyra Valkyria versus Nidia. Who wins?

Nidia was a great character, and her work as Jamie Noble’s girlfriend was epic. She was a good wrestler. Lyra isn’t a great promo or character yet, but her in-ring work is excellent. Lyra would win.

Do you think legends like Ric Flair deserve a bigger cut from WWE’s video games?

Ric is currently under contract to AEW, so why does he deserve a penny from WWE for anything? If Ric were part of the current WWE video games, he would deserve the same as everyone else. But he’s not, and signed a contract with AEW, so why is he even talking about this?

Paul Heyman is in. Which ECW legend should be next to go in the WWE Hall of Fame?

Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, or The Franchise, Shane Douglas, would be my picks. Maybe Raven as well.

Was AJ Lee really that good, or is she overrated?

For her time and era, AJ was a very good wrestler and an excellent character. Her in-ring skills might not be up to today’s standards, but I still think, on the mic, she’s probably better than 96% of the other women. Yes, she was that good.

Logan Paul versus Sting. Who wins?

I’ll get hate mail for this, but I think Logan Paul is the better athlete and talker of the two men. Sting is a legend, but he was protected in many ways, and at least to me, overrated. Paul is a prodigy and seems to improve with every match. Sting would win the match, but Paul would be the star and one who stands out.

What are your thoughts on Terry Funk’s ‘Chainsaw Charlie’ gimmick in WWE?

I thought it was stupid, and I still do. But according to Mick Foley, and in a few shoot interviews, Funk himself, it was Funk’s idea, and he wanted to do it that way. It was Funk being Funk, so who are we to complain, right? And Terry made it work.

The Undertaker and Abdullah the Butcher versus The Ultimate Warrior and Dusty Rhodes. Who wins?

This would be either really good or really bad. Probably the latter. If there had to be a winner, it would be Warrior and Duisty, as Abby and Taker would end up fighting each other.

What are your thoughts on Kyle Fletcher?

A rising star with a lot of potential, and if the AEW stigma doesn’t destroy his skillset and love of the business, he should be a major name in WWE one day.

Bill Watts versus Fritz Von Erich. Who wins?

The big Cowboy versus the former Nazi turned Christian Family Man. This would be a great brawl. No armbars or headlocks here. It would be an epic match, with both men similar in size and style. I feel the determining factor would be the finish. Fritz, a three-time AWA World Champion, had the Iron Claw as a finisher. Watts had the power, but the CLAW rarely fails. Fritz would capture the victory.

Was Buff Bagwell the James Dean of professional wrestling?

I heard that analogy on the recent Clearwater Fan Girl Unplugged Podcast, and it’s fitting. Buff has that aura about him that makes him stand out and people take notice, plus a potential for greatness that is obvious, but for whatever reason, was never truly fulfilled. It’s a great comparison.

  1. ‘Chainsaw Charlie’ was just a brutal nickname like ‘Cactus Jack’. It worked well as a tag team. Terry never used it as a single, and could of called himself ‘Murdering Marko’—which would have worked as well.

They won the belts with it, then lost it next day. March 29th to March 30. Simple booking. I liked it!
