Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Stephanie McMahon is going into the WWE Hall of Fame. Thoughts?
While, as a performer, I’m torn on this, I look back at Steph and the totality of her career and legacy, and she belongs. It’s kind of odd to see her going in before Vince, but Vince won’t be added until he’s dead. And Steph has earned the honor. Congratulations to Stephanie McMahon.
Jack Perry is back, reunited with Luchasaurus as the Jurassic Express, and is Jungle Boy again. Thoughts?
But where is Marko Stunt? It’s not the real Jurassic Express without Marko. But he’ll probably show up eventually. It’s a good reunion and makes sense. Perry was tolerable in the Jungle Boy role, and he makes a good team with the dinosaur. It would have worked better if Luchasaurus hadn’t shown up two weeks ago to attack Christian Cage and save Kip Sabian, but we’re not supposed to think about or remember that. It makes the whole Frankenstein’s monster video from Perry moot. But I actually liked this team back in the past. It’s good to see them back together.
Brock Lesnar destroyed John Cena. Thoughts?
Brock is a monster, and it worked. It’s a build to WarGames and a possible rematch at Saturday Night’s Main Event for Cena’s last match. I wasn’t expecting it to be so one-sided, but I’m glad it was.
Which show was better? Wrestlepalooza or All Out? Rate each on a scale of 1-5.
I didn’t watch either show. I only watched the highlights of each on YouTube and read recaps as the shows happened. The WWE show had some great matches, but given what it was supposed to be, it failed to deliver. I’ll give it a 3. As for AEW All Out, some good matches, and it was better than I was expecting. But the matches were too long, all seemed to run together, and there was way too much unnecessary and outright stupid stuff. So, Moxley was burned to death? I’ll give it a 3 as well.
WWE has confirmed that the Crown Jewel Championships will be on the line at Crown Jewel, in Perth, Australia. Thoughts?
The Crown Jewel titles will be defended as Cody fights Seth, and Tiffany Stratton fights the new Women’s World Champion, Stephanie Vaquer. The matches should be good, although very predictable. I expect this event will be stacked, but I’ll need far more than just the announced matches to pique my interest at this point.
Was WrestlePalooza really worth the $29.99 ESPN price tag? Or was this the start of something WWE fans should be worried about?
I doubt that WWE or ESPN will be happy when the numbers come in. It’s not worth that much to me, and I know many others who feel the same way.
Missy Hyatt recently revealed that, back before WCW hired her, she spoke with WWE, and they wanted to bring her in and pair her with Lanny Poffo. Missy and The Genius. How do you think that would have gone?
The World Class version of Missy would have worked great in that era of WWE. Sunny probably wouldn’t have gotten a second glance if Missy had been around, playing the evil rich girl. But with Lanny? That’s an odd combination to be sure. It just doesn’t seem to click for me. Lanny did a great job working with Mr. Perfect. That was a, pardon the pun, perfect team. But I can’t see Missy fitting the story or dynamic. Missy managing Paul Roma & Hercules, or maybe Dino Bravo, would have worked better.
What’s your take on how the AEW World Championship match turned out at All Out? Is Tony Khan booking things in the right direction?
I’ve only seen highlights of the match, so I can’t really comment on how it turned out except to echo several viewers who said it was too long, and some spots made no sense and were unnecessary risks. AEW, as of late, seems to be slightly better, although the stories and matches often make little sense. I still think Tony needs to step back and give someone else the reins for a while. Little things matter, but there haven’t been enough to make a major difference.
Paul Heyman aligned himself with Brock Lesnar again at the PPV. Thoughts?
And all roads lead to Survivor Series: WarGames. ‘Nuff said.
