Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
About the drop off in creative from the recent FED boom, do you think TKO might look to replace Paul Levesque in the not-too-distant future? If they do, do you think it will be a screenwriter, as opposed to ‘one of the boys’ (Taker voice)?
Nothing TKO does would surprise me, and if Triple H doesn’t toe the line, eventually, they will replace him. Loyalty means nothing. Only the mighty dollar matters. As to who might step in if that were to happen, I expect it would be whoever throws out the best BS to TKO and fits their greedy vision best. It might be one of the boys, but my gut says it wouldn’t be a name we’d expect or be familiar with.
Who do you see in WWE who could be fired up at short notice to step up into the main event scene?
The Miz can always step up, and Damian Priest is always available to reclaim a top spot. Raquel Rodriguez is ready too.
Who do you see in AEW who could be fired up at short notice to step up into the main event scene?
Sammy Guevara is always a possibility, and QT Marshall could do it as well. Jay Lethal is certainly capable, and hell, Johnny TV proved what he could do in both WWE and TNA. He could be a top guy in AEW if used properly.
Who is today’s 1-2-3 Kid?
JD McDonagh. The guy has been so consistently good, yet is so underrated. One good win against a top guy, and he could easily join the upper mid-card ranks as a singles talent.
Which midcarder would be interesting/entertaining to see pushed to the moon?
I’ll repeat myself with my answer from the last question. JD McDonagh could easily be the man. Joe Gacy, from the Wyatt Sicks, also seems to have a lot of potential and could be an entertaining top guy.
If any wrestler’s car broke down outside your home on Christmas Day and you had to let them in to join you for dinner, who would you like and why?
Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Roxanne Perez, and Raquel Rodriguez, aka Judgment Day. They just seem like they’d be fun to hang out with, plus I’ve got extra chicken nuggies in the freezer. Dom would be happy.
Do you think Penta made the right move by leaving AEW for WWE?
He’s been featured strongly and regularly since his debut on RAW, and is consistently a strong presence in the WWE mid-card. I think he’s happy and satisfied with the move.
What storyline do you think Jacob Fatu should jump into when he comes back?
This question was answered on SmackDown on Friday night. It looks to be Jacob Fatu versus Drew McIntyre. That’s a pretty nice spot, and should prove to be entertaining.
Thoughts on the current Meltzer-Gail Kim Twitter feud over Kim’s comments on Riho?
Gail Kim stated an opinion about the way Riho is presented and used. The AEW fanbase went nuts, and Meltzer, being the lead advocate and cheerleader for AEW, is leading the pack, looking like a pinhead with every comment he tries to make. It’s a big bunch of fuss over literally nothing, and Dave just wants to keep it going. Drama = views. Gail said nothing wrong, but made an honest observation. That’s just too much for some people to handle.
Charles Robinson says that he was denied permission by WWE to attend or be a part of Ric Flair’s last match. Thoughts?
Though billed as an independent show, Ric was teaming with an AEW talent versus two other AEW talents, and Robinson is viewed as WWE, almost as much as Triple H or Steve Austin. It would have looked bad on WWE to see Robinson on camera at that event. And truthfully, as awful as that match went, he should be glad he dodged that bullet. That event was not a proud moment or bragging point for anyone involved. Well, maybe Flair, but he has no shame, and was drunk at the time.
