Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Neither Matt nor Jeff Hardy was part of the PWI 500 list for 2025. Thoughts?
This shows just how fake that list truly is, and how meaningless that acclaimed list truly is. Or maybe the people at Pro Wrestling Illustrated don’t like Matt & Jeff. Whatever the reason, it makes no sense. Matt and Jeff are both still active, and both men are doing quite well in TNA. If Chris Jericho (#54), EVIL (#255), and Cereal Man (#500) made the cut, Matt & Jeff belong as well.
Braun Strowman: “I’m semi-retired from wrestling now because I want to be an actor”. Thoughts?
He’s retired because he wants to be an actor? I thought the leg injury, the broken hand, the reality show where he eats a lot of food, and overpricing himself on the Indys so he can’t get booked were the reasons he was semi-retired. And he wants to be an actor too. Oy vey!
Thoughts on referee Daphanie LaShaunn’s botched three-count on Nia Jax at SmackDown this past Friday.
The rule in WWE is count what you see. If Nia didn’t get the shoulder up, or even attempt to get it up, which she didn’t, she should have counted the three. It really is just that simple. LaShaunn screwed up.
Who would be on your Mt. Everest of wrestlers you’ve personally met and spoken to?
Wrestlers that I have spoken to, interacted with, and think are pretty awesome? I’ll say Michael Youngblood, Ethan Storm, Greg Valentine, and Baby Doll.
If Shane McMahon came back to WWE for one last match, who would you choose as his final opponent?
If Shane O’Mac came back for one last run, two matches come to mind. Either The Miz, to make up for and seek retribution for that final appearance at WrestleMania 39, where he tore his Quad, and The Miz and Snoopy Dogg Dogg had to save the moment. A rematch from WrestleMania 33, where Shane faced AJ Styles, arguably the best match that Shane ever had at a Mania, would work too.
Should wrestlers win their retirement matches? Yes or no?
It depends on the wrestler, the situation, and the context. Flair versus HBK, it was right for Flair to lose. For Sting’s last match, then Sting was the right choice. The time-honored tradition is for wrestlers to lose on their way out, thereby putting over the new, future stars of tomorrow. Not all the time, but more often than not.
Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody versus Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed. Who wins?
What a fun match this would be. Brutality at its best. And Brody and Hansen would win.
Do you think WWE will hold the 2027 WWE HOF inductions in Saudi Arabia, in conjunction with WrestleMania, as usual, or will they hold a separate event to avoid having to fly the legends to Saudi Arabia?
That’s an interesting question, and I have no idea how WWE will work this out. I doubt WWE has thought that far ahead either. If they remove the HOF stuff from the WrestleMania experience, the Saudi’s will not be happy. But will the legends and HOF inductees be willing to travel overseas? What about their families? WWE has a situation on its hands, whether they know it or not. It will be very interesting to see how this develops.
When you say his name, does he always appear? Do you still believe in Joe Hendry?
I’ve said his name many times, and yet, he never seems to show up. Instead, I’ll often see a skinny white boy on a bicycle riding by the house. That dude’s name is Mason, and he’s allegedly the new neighborhood crackhead. Five to eight times a day, he’s riding by. So, saying the name doesn’t make Joe Hendry appear. Maybe Hendry has sublet this area to Mason? Hmmmm. But, so far as Joe Hendry goes, I still believe.
Do you think you’ll still be writing about wrestling and doing the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A in 5 years?
Honestly, nope. I love writing about wrestling, and it’s my escape from the BS of reality and life. But WWE is pricing me out, AEW does nothing for me, and all of my favorites are getting older. Hell, I’m getting older. I’ve been thinking about all of this, and I’m ready for a reboot. I love this stuff, and the site does good numbers, but it’s getting stale and redundant. I’ll always love wrestling, and it will always be a part of my life. But my career as an internet wrestling journalist, whatever the hell that is, I’m taking it day by day. But if I pull a Jericho and reinvent myself, the site, the content, etc., don’t be surprised.
