Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Santos Escobar’s contract with WWE has expired, and he’s now a free agent. Thoughts?
WWE has been using Escobar more as an afterthought, and he must feel that his career would be better off somewhere else for now. He’s a former CMLL Champion, so I’m sure plenty of options are available. WWE dropped the ball with this one, though.
Giulia has now officially surpassed 100 days as United States Champion. How would you rate her reign?
WWE seems to be dropping the ball here as well. I had forgotten about Giulia and her title on SmackDown. Who has she defended against? How many PLEs has she wrestled on? I can’t rate her reign because, through no fault of her own, it seems to exist in name only. WWE needs to step things up a bit.
According to Meltzer, John Cena’s last match will be against Gunther. Thoughts?
Meltzer is clearly speculating because that’s all he does. Facts don’t matter unless they fit his narrative. But for this, I hope he’s right. I’ve been speculating the same thing for months, and although I hate to agree with Uncle Dave, it would be a fitting and excellent choice for Cena’s final match.
Dutch Mantell versus Shane Douglas versus Stevie Richards. Who wins?
Is this a James Romero on a pole match? I’d love to see this. Three entertaining legends squared off, and imagine the promos and rhetoric. Shane would get the big “W”, but the true winners would be the fans and podcast listeners. Just imagine the stories and comments that Stevie, Dutch, and James would make on their podcasts. Excellent!
Lisa Marie Varon, aka Victoria, has been chosen to induct Mickie James into the TNA Hall of Fame. Thoughts?
An excellent choice, for who better to induct a legend than another legend. By the way, both Mickie and Victoria belong in the WWE Hall of Fame. Are you listening, Triple H?
A biopic about Mick Foley is allegedly in the works. What actor would you like to see portray Mrs. Foley’s baby boy?
Jack Black could play the elder, more current Mick, but the younger, wrestling Mick? Current Wyatt Sicks member Joe Gacy comes to mind.
Does WWE need a Mean Gene Okerlund-like character to conduct interviews in the middle of the ring?
There will never be another Mean Gene. He was one of a kind, but a person to ask questions in the ring, and in a spot somewhat like what Gene did, that would be cool and add to the product. AEW tries with Tony Schiavone, but Tony is just too blah at this point. The right person, though, would stimulate interest and be able to help move the stories along. It just needs to be the right person.
All that hype for AJ Lee, and now, WWE seems to have totally forgotten her. Thoughts?
CM Punk mentioned her briefly on RAW, so she’s not totally forgotten. I guess they’re just waiting for the right moment. I’m sure we’ll see her and Becky lock up and fight again.
Maxxine Dupri beat Becky Lynch by count-out on RAW. AJ Lee made Becky tap out at WrestlePalooza. So, possibly a triple-threat for the Women’s IC title at an upcoming WWE PLE? Yes or no?
That would be an interesting, and yes, entertaining match. Are you reading this, Adam Pearce? Give it some thought and make it official.
Who would be Paul Heyman’s next client if he leaves The Vision? Or is Seth Rollins being kicked out of The Vision?
I don’t think Paul will be leaving the Vision. I think his affiliation with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed will continue for a while to come. I can see Paul acting as an advocate for Brock Lesnar on occasion because friends do that. But Paul’s main focus will be The Bron’s. Seth being kicked out is the more likely of the two scenarios mentioned, but I don’t really see that happening yet. So long as Seth is the World Champion, he should be safe.
