Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
If the Saudis offered Tony Khan multi-millions of dollars, do you think AEW would run events there?
If Tony had a product the Saudi’s wanted to see, and offered him WWE-like money to move All In or one of AEW’s major PPVs to Saudi Arabia, Tony would be on it in a flash, and flying over ASAP. Of that, I have no doubts.
Raven has been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s Disease. Thoughts?
This sucks for Raven. It’s a raw deal. My Grandma suffered from Parkinson’s, and the constant shaking and nerve damage were hard to watch. But she dealt with it and lived to age 102. Raven is a fighter, and I have faith he’ll be okay. It won’t be easy, but damn it, he’s Raven. Best of luck to the guy.
David Arquette versus Kevin Federline. Who wins?
I remember when Federline did the thing with Cena, and he impressed me. The wrestling was so-so, but the character was excellent. I was hoping he’d stick around in WWE, maybe as a manager, because he gets it. And Arquette? A former WCW World Champion. He gets it, too, and this would be an excellent match, far better than anyone would expect. David Arquette would win.
Becky Lynch lost to Maxxine Dupri due to a fast countout by referee Jessika Carr. Do you think we’ll end up seeing Becky versus Carr at some point?
Jessika Carr has been training to be a wrestler, has a strong history on the Indies before signing with WWE, and has wrestled at WWE Evolve under the name of Kalyx. Yeah, we’re going to see Becky and Carr go at it at some point. That is almost a certainty.
At TNA Bound for Glory this upcoming weekend, the Tables Match between The Dudley Boyz and The Hardys is now for both the NXT and TNA Tag Team Championships. Thoughts?
Things have really picked up with this match. Not only are two of the most legendary teams in wrestling history having one last match, but it has the Tables stipulation, and is for both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships. This is a WrestleMania-level match. I don’t think we’ll see a title switch because I don’t think D-Von is capable of any kind of regular match schedule. So, no big surprises. But for a one-shot, I expect we’ll see one helluva match.
Do you think Carlos Silva’s open-door policy with WWE helps or hurts TNA in the long run?
It helps. TNA was often forgotten in the overall discussion for so long, but this rivalry with NXT has made fans sit up and take notice again. TV ratings are up. PPVs are selling out. And TNA is a player again. And the WWE connection has been a major part of that happening.
Bugsy McGraw versus Sami Zayn. Who wins?
Bugsy was big, strong, and played the goofy character as well as anyone. This would be an interesting contrast in characters and styles. I was always a fan of McGraw, but he was never a top guy. And Sami lives forever at the end of being a main event guy, just so close, but not there. It’s a tough call, but I think Sami would win.
Do you agree that Tony Khan’s booking style is hurting AEW’s ability to build stars?
How can someone be a star when they wrestle three weeks, vanish for six weeks, and then come back again with no build or story to keep them in the public eye? Simple. They can’t. There are a lot of very talented wrestlers in AEW who could be stars. They should be stars. But the way they’re used, or not used, prevents that and puts barriers on how far they can go.
Would you want to see Mandy Rose back in WWE?
Not really. She was a good worker, but didn’t stand out to me. She was just another face in the crowd, and honestly, getting released was the best thing that ever happened to her professionally. She has a name more for the OnlyFans and what she’s done after leaving WWE than she ever did as a talent in the ring. If she were to return, good for her, but unless she’s stepped it up a great deal, she’d just be a name on the roster, lost in the crowd, and nothing more.
Raven claims that he needed therapy over never winning the WWE Championship. Thoughts?
I hope this isn’t true because if it is, it’s sad. Look at Raven and his character. He had no chance in hell of ever being the WWE Champion in Vince McMahon’s WWE. Raven is a smart guy, and he’s a decent wrestler, but the character he portrayed for so long was not one to appeal to the WWE core audience, and I would think he knows that. I hope that Raven is just BSing us with this one.
