Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Trish Stratus talking about Bad Bunny: “Music is a part of life, but it’s not about spreading a WOKE culture that’s confusing and starts to shape society, that’s when we go too far.” Thoughts?
Music has always been about shaping society. It’s always been about rebellion and expression of ideas, emotion, etc. Remember the protest songs of the ’60s and ’70s? Rock in the ’70s and then again in the ’90s? Rap? We may not always like the message, but if we don’t like it, don’t listen and turn the radio station. I get it that Trish might not like Bad Bunny’s music. I’m not a big fan either, but don’t blame the artist for music you don’t like. Listen to someone that you do like instead. Trish is sounding rather close-minded here.
If you could bring back Harley Race, in his prime, for 5 matches in today’s WWE, who would his opponents be?
Five great matches for Harley? John Cena for sure. CM Punk would be another. And three more? Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Bron Breakker.
If you won the lottery, would you start an independent wrestling promotion?
I wouldn’t start a new promotion, but depending on how much money I have, I’d probably attempt to invest and help grow some of the local Independent promotions around here in my area. There are some talented wrestlers and strong companies locally here in NC, and if I had the money, I’d try to help them grow bigger and better.
What are the chances of WWE and TNA loaning out their signature matches to each other? Ultimate x at WM? Money in the Bank at Bound for Glory?
It’s not very likely, but then again, it’s professional wrestling, so never say never. I don’t see it, though.
Assuming Darby doesn’t commit felonies and is arrested in 9 days, do you think he will be World Champion within the next 365 days? Championship goes from Hamgman>MJF>Darby.
Darby will end up with the AEW title at some point, if he can stay healthy. Page to MJF to Darby? That sounds very possible.
Do you think TNA is to WWE as ROH is to AEW… something the promotion doesn’t need since nobody cares about it.
ROH is a paper promotion at best, and only exists at the whim of Tony Khan. TNA is a promotion that has been consistent for nearly twenty years, and while WWE has interests in the company, it’s a partnership that works for both companies. If WWE dropped all partnerships tomorrow, TNA would continue. If AEW and Tony dropped the ties with ROH, it would cease to exist. They’re not comparable.
Kylie Rae has announced that her WWE ID contract will not be renewed. Thoughts?
She’s pregnant, and WWE is cutting talent for NXT and the ID programs. It sucks, but it makes sense. She’ll be okay.
In court today, Raja Jackson pled not guilty to charges of felony battery inflicting bodily injury and misdemeanor battery for the assault on Syko Stu. Thoughts?
Of course, he’s pleading not guilty. If he admits to the thuggish attack, there will be no arguments to be made when the eventual civil lawsuits come up. And if he’s saying not guilty, the odds of a plea deal with the prosecutors to avoid an expensive and public trial increase significantly. We know he’s guilty, and he knows he’s guilty. But, he can’t admit it. Otherwise, he’s totally fucked. At least, with a not guilty plea, it gives Jackson and his lawyers some wiggle room to work with.
Stevie Turner posted on X: “My time with @WWE has come to an end. I’ve had a brilliant time and I’m so excited for the future 😆 see you soon!” Thoughts?
This one surprised me. Turner was heavily featured as the Prime Minister (General Manager) on WWE Evolve, and she’s certainly better at her role than other General Managers in the WWE system. Hopefully, Turner will move on, continue to improve, and be back at some point.
Zara Zakher, Drako Knox, Wes Lee, and Jamar Hampton have all been released by WWE. Thoughts?
WWE went on a releasing spree, and unfortunately, these talents, along with several others, paid the price. Wes Lee is a surprise. The others, I have no idea who they even are. But pinkslips suck. Best wishes to all of these talents in their future careers. Maybe we’ll see them back at some point. One can only hope.
