Thoughts & Predictions

I just found out a few minutes ago that a long-time friend, Phillip Locklear, passed away yesterday. Only 55 years old. An incredible guy who has endured so much. RIP, my friend. You were always the life of the party, with a joke, smart remark, and the biggest smile. You will be missed.
And now, to business. AEW presents WrestleDream 2025, tomorrow night on PPV, live from St. Louis, MO. Only twelve matches announced? I’m sure more will be added. After all, we still have almost 22 hours before the show begins, and there are still a few people who have been left off the show. And this show needs some twelve-person tag team action, right? Let’s make a few predictions.
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) vs. JetSpeed (“Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight).
Normally, this would be, in my opinion, a slam dunk for FTR, but Dax has been especially cranky as of late. FTR just seems to be going through the motions. I expect that to continue here. Look for an upset.
Winners: JetSpeed (MikeBailey & Kevin Knight).
Eddie Kingston and Hook vs. TBA.
The opponents haven’t even been announced yet. I expect The Grizzled Young Veterans, or maybe even Big Bill & Bryan Keith. It doesn’t matter. Hook & Eddie are getting the push.
Winners: Hook & Eddie Kingston.
Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale vs. Divine Vanity (Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford).
I honestly have no idea, nor do I care. Harley has a puppet, and I like puppets. Let’s go with Harley and Willow for the win.
Winners: Harely Cameron & Willow Nightingale.
Roderick Strong and The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Pac).
Strong and The Conglomeration have Orange Cassidy and Orange Juice. It’s not just for breakfast anymore. The Death Riders and any interest I once had in them have long died. One more for the good guys.
Winners: Roderick Strong and The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii).
“I Quit” match.
Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley
We’re going to see blood, plunder, tables, spikes, and probably hand grenades. This match will be insane, and it will probably make any traditional wrestling fans have dry heaves and blood pressure so high that Snoop Dogg will be knocking at the door. I’ll be ashamed to be a wrestling fan when this match is over. And the winner? Darby won’t quit, but if a friend or family member is threatened, will he hold to that? Look for manipulation and innocents being threatened, and as a result, Moxley steals a win.
Winner: Jon Moxley.
AEW World Championship
“Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. Samoa Joe.
This feud came out of nowhere, and after this match, I expect that’s where it’ll retreat to. Nowhere. Joe will dominate, but that belt isn’t changing hands.
Winner and STILL AEW Champion: Hangman Adam Page.
AEW Women’s World Championship
Kris Statlander (c) vs. “Timeless” Toni Storm.
Statlander just won the title and deserves a longer run with the belt. Toni doesn’t need a title, so long as she has her tits out. Kris keeps the belt.
Winner and STILL AEW Women’s Champion: Kris Statlander.
The winners receive a $500,000 cash prize.
Jurassic Express (Jack Perry and Luchasaurus) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson).
It must be nice to have a billionaire boss where a half-million bucks can be gained by winning a match with no build, no purpose, and just kind of there. Lazy booking. So far as this match goes, has anyone seen Marko Stunt around lately? Look for the actor’s son and the Lizard to receive some Munchkin-land help and get the win and a half-million bucks, allegedly.
Winners: The Jurassic Express.
AEW TNT Championship
Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Mark Briscoe.
They’ve been tiptoeing around it for a while. It’s time to put some gold on Mark Briscoe. And in the words of that other guy in WWE who no one can see, the time is NOW.
Winner and NEW AEW TNT Champion: Mark Briscoe.
AEW World Tag Team Championship
Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) (c) vs. Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita) (with Don Callis).
Bandido is working with an injury, while Okada & Takeshita have the 525,600 other members of the Callis Family to have their backs. We’re seeing new champions.
Winners and NEW AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita).
Jamie Hayter vs. Thekla.
I know who Jamie is, but who is Thekla? Does it even matter? Thekla is the new kid, and she’s being built as a challenger for Mercedes to run over in a future defense of one of her many meaningless titles. Thekla wins.
Winner: Thekla.
Tornado Trios match
The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP) vs. The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, and Toa Liona).
Didn’t The Demand get a win this past week on Collision? Well, one is probably all they’re getting. The Hurt Syndicate is getting their victory back.
Winners: The Hurt Syndicate.
And there you go with my predictions. What are yours? Let me know what you’re thinking. And with that, I’m out of here. Take care and be well, my friends. Thanks for the continued support, and I’ll see you in the funny pages.
