Do you think you know the real story of how TNA was founded? Do you know about Stone Cold Steve Austin when his name was just Steve Williams? Want to learn about The Undertaker before he became WWE’s biggest star? You might think you know the story, but one man truly does. He was there. And his name? Dirty Dutch Mantell.

If you listen to wrestling podcasts or have been a fan for more than ten minutes, you know Dutch Mantell. A legendary wrestler who, along with his bullwhip, Shoe Baby, dominated the ring like few others, except for when he lost, and from Memphis to WWE, spread the word of Real Americans. As a booker, he had great success in Puerto Rico, Florida, and Memphis. He created superstars and knockouts. And he can tell one helluva good story.

And that brings us to this book. Some of the facts might be slightly taken liberty with, but the stories are fascinating and entertaining. And as you read the book, you can easily hear Dutch’s voice, that little chuckle, narrating the tale. It’s a wrestling history lesson, told by one of the true legends, in his own unique fashion.

Can you tell that I liked the book? It’s an easy read, but it never gets boring. This book was written and published in 2009, so a few of the stories might seem familiar if you listen to the podcast, Storytime with Dutch, but they’re all worth hearing again. I could go on and on about this book, but let’s cut to the chase.

Dutch tells a story like no other. In this book, and in his latter book, Tales from a Dirt Road, Dutch does exactly that and leaves you wanting more. If you get the chance, check it out. I got mine on Amazon, but you can also contact Dutch himself for autographed copies at DirtyDutchMantell#gmail.com. Regardless of how you get the book, read it. You won’t be disappointed. Star Rating: 4.75 stars out of 5.

And there you go. Thanks for reading. And now, go show Dutch some love. I wouldn’t lie to you. Jim Cornette does the foreword for the book, and now I’m throwing in my two cents as well. Dutch Mantell: WE THE PEOPLE! Now, go read the book.
