Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Why are people not watching AEW Collision anymore?
Because there are plenty of better things to do on the weekend, and AEW Collision is barely watchable. But then again, that applies to all of AEW. But, more often than not, Collision is especially bad.
Who is the bigger draw? Brock Lesnar or Rhea Ripley?
As much as I love Rhea, Brock has a twenty-plus track record as a main eventer, and when he appears, it’s an event. I have to go with The Beast on this one.
Enzo Amore (Real1) says he reached out to AEW, and they had no interest. Thoughts?
That just shows that even AEW has some basic common sense. Actually, Enzo is a good talker, and a reunion with Big Bill, aka Big Cass, would get a good reaction and pop. But long-term, I think even AEW realizes what a disaster that Enzo would be in 2025.
Do you think Tony Khan should bring in someone else to help with AEW’s booking?
He doesn’t even have to bring anyone else in. Use Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Lynn, Dean Malenko, Jake Roberts, etc., and pick their minds. Use Jim Ross. And hire someone to oversee and coordinate these wrestling minds. In other words, get a booker. Tony should step back, sign the checks, and allow AEW to improve and make sense.
What Horror Inspired wrestler was the best?
Given the longevity and success of the character, I have to say, The Undertaker.
Do you agree with Booker T that legends like Goldberg should stop criticizing today’s talent?
This may sound hypocritical, considering how big a fan I am of Cornette, Stevie Richards, and Dutch Mantell. But criticism, just for the sake of complaining, doesn’t help anyone. Constructive criticism that may help the talent improve, sure thing. And opinions on the current product in comparison to past times, that is cool. But marking out and being a clown, just to get attention, as Goldberg recently did with Asuka, serves no purpose.
Does Ric Flair not get the respect he deserves, or does he not deserve the respect he gets?
I don’t think anyone who remembers Ric Flair as the face of the NWA or WCW, as the Leader of the Four Horsemen, disrespects his talents and the legacy he left behind. As a wrestler, Ric was arguably one of the best of all time. Where the issues lie is what Ric has done since his retirement. Ric, as a wrestler, is a legend. Ric, as a person, is an embarrassment. Ric refuses to face reality, still tries to be the Nature Boy, and doesn’t have any respect for himself anymore. The last match, the outbursts on social media, the drunken antics in public have all taken their toll. It’s hard to respect a person who doesn’t have any pride or self-respect left.
Do you think modern wrestlers should follow The Undertaker’s example when it comes to protecting their character?
Protect the character and protect the business. 100% yes.
Do you think AEW dropped the ball by shelving Private Party?
It’s all part of how AEW does things. A push for a while, and then nothing. Wash, rinse, repeat. Are they dropping the ball with Private Party? Absolutely. With patience and the right booking, Private Party could easily be a modern-day Harlem Heat or even a Hardy Boys. With the AEW style of booking, they’ll never be more than an afterthought.
CJ Perry is starting a new podcast, and her first guest? Rusev. Thoughts?
Perry is attempting to stay relevant and stay part of the wrestling business. The podcast might be good. We’ll have to wait and see how that works out. Rusev is the perfect first guest, considering he’s her husband. What will be really interesting is when other guests start showing up. I’d love to see her have Bobby Lashley as a guest. I’m not very optimistic about this. Wrestling podcasts are literally a dime a dozen these days. But I’m willing to listen and give her a chance. She might surprise me.
