Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
“The Thrillbilly” Silas Mason is the new NWA World Champion, defeating Thom Latimer at NWA 77. Thoughts?
I’ve only seen Mason wrestle a few times, but the guy has energy and charisma, and seems like a solid choice for the NWA to choose as their new face of the company. Congratulations to Silas Mason, who now joins a very prestigious list of talents, holding that ten pounds of gold. Wear it well, and make men like Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Dory Funk Jr, Lou Thesz, etc., proud.
No mention of Bob Caudle’s passing on any of the WWE programming this week. Thoughts?
I’m not surprised since Bob never worked for WWE and was considered a regional wrestling announcer from the territories. If Vince were still in charge, I feel confident that there would have at least been an acknowledgment at some point, but things have changed.
According to Karrion Kross, LA Knight allegedly told him that Zack Ryder, aka Matt Cardona, “shit his pants” during their match on SmackDown. Thoughts?
Poo Poo Poo – you know it! It doesn’t have quite the same ring, does it? It happens sometimes, but did it on SmackDown? We’ll probably never know for sure.
MLW is moving its headquarters to Charleston, South Carolina. Thoughts?
The Carolinas have always been strong for professional wrestling, and a strong fan base is almost a certainty. The taxes and expenses will also be considerably less than MLW’s current base of operations in New York City. This sounds like a good business move. And MLW, since your new HQ will only be three hours away from my home here in Laurinburg, NC, if you need a consultant or advisor, hit me up. Let’s talk.
CM Punk says that he’s not interested in writing a tell-all book. Thoughts?
If Punk were to write a book, the early WWE stuff would piss off his current employers, while most of the AEW stuff would have to be left out due to NDAs. I think the Colt Cabana stuff and the lawsuits against the WWE and their doctor would have to be left out, too. So, what’s left to write about? I can’t blame Punk for not being interested in writing a book. He’d have to leave out all of the good stuff.
Nick Hogan was recently spotted working out in the ring with current NWA Wrestler Bryan Idol. Are we ready for Nick-A-Mania to run wild in the ring? Thoughts?
I can see Nick doing a one-shot type deal, but Nick as a full-time wrestler? He’s too short and too old to start something like that. He’s no DDP, for sure. If we do see Nick Hogan in the ring, it’s for a one-shot deal, and nothing more.
The speculation in AEW is that Adam Cole may never wrestle again, due to that last concussion. Thoughts?
Unfortunately, this is what happens when unnecessary risks are taken. And now, nobody knows. Whatever the future holds, best wishes to Cole for a full and speedy recovery.
Do you believe AEW is really closing the gap on SmackDown?
In Tony Khan’s eyes, most likely. But do I believe it? I believe the actual numbers, and yes, SnackDown’s numbers have fallen. But AEWs have fallen even more and continue to decline every week, while SmackDowns have steadied out. So, no gap closing here.
Do you think Logan Paul has proven himself enough to be compared to the AEW roster?
Logan Paul has been consistent since his debut, and continues to improve weekly. So yes, he has proven himself in my eyes.
Shane McMahon was at WWE RAW with his son. Why wasn’t he ever shown on live TV?
Maybe he didn’t want to be shown on TV, and was just there for a night out with his son. I’m sure that both WWE had their reasons.
