Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Who should induct John Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame?
My suggestion would be Kurt Angle. Kurt was Cena’s first feud and top-name opponent. It would be like going full circle for Cena’s career.
Jeff Hardy and Joe Hendry performed a song together on TNA Impact. If you were to form a wrestling super band to record a song, who would you pick to be in the group?
A super group of wrestlers? Jeff Hardy and Joe Hendry, of course. R-Truth, Jilian Hall, and The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko could round things out, along with Jimmy Hart.
What is the perfect PPV? Length, number of matches, etc?
I would say 3 1/2 to 4 hours, with seven matches. A gimmick match, a main-event title match, two tag matches, and three filler matches. Subject to change, of course.
Former WCW Champion David Arquette was recently spotted at AEW Dynamite. Would you like to see Arquette return to pro wrestling?
If there is a good story and reason for Arquette to be involved in a story and wrestle, I wouldn’t object too much. David is 54 years old, so the time is running out, and the role would have to be just right, but using David in a managerial role as an antagonist, with very limited physical action, I could go for that.
Ethan Page recently said that WWE should sign Je’Von Evans to a 15-year contract. Is Evans that good? Thoughts?
I don’t see it yet, and Je’Von is a bit sloppy for my tastes, but WWE seems high on him, and Page has wrestled him many times. They would know better than I, so sign him up.
Booker T recently called AEW a “retirement spot for aging wrestlers”. Thoughts?
I can’t disagree with Booker on this one. He’s 100% correct. Examples include Edge, Big Show, Mark Henry, Jeff Jarrett, Christian, The Hardys, Sting, Ric Flair, and many others.
Do you think Maxxine Dupri is the next breakout star in WWE?
I know WWE seems to think so and is strapping the rocket to her. She’s fresh and is getting better, so we’ll see how it goes.
What are your thoughts on Bret Hart’s recent allegations that Shawn Michaels and Vincent McMahon had sexual relations? Marty Jannetty says it could be true. Jim Ross says it’s bullshit. So, what do you think? Were Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon lovers?
It would explain quite a bit, and Bret Hart isn’t the only one to suggest this. Scott Hall, Road Warrior Hawk, and King Kong Bundy have all speculated on Vince’s sexuality in the past, and I can assure you from personal knowledge that the only difference between most straight guys and gay guys is air and opportunity. Can I see Shawn getting freaky with the boss to get out of trouble and further his career? I know plenty of people who have done far more for far less. I think it’s probably true, and to be honest, I can’t judge. It’s not my business what two consenting adults do.
Would Paige Van Zant be better off returning to AEW or taking a shot at WWE?
Her professional wrestling career consisted of maybe a dozen matches for AEW, and while she’s an impressive athlete, having had success in UFC, Bare Knuckle Fighting, and the PowerSlap competition, she didn’t stand out to me as a wrestler. Forget wrestling and keep on doing the other stuff, Paige. It’d be better for all parties if that were the direction she heads.
Fightful Select has learned that Jake Something’s TNA contract is up at the end of the year. Thoughts?
I guess that AEW will have a new star. TNA isn’t really using him often, and he just doesn’t seem to me to be what WWE might be looking for. So, AEW is most likely to be if he doesn’t remain with TNA.
According to Bruce Prichard, there was a pitch made for Hulk Hogan to fight Dusty Rhodes at WrestleMania 9. Thoughts?
Hogan turning heel and fighting Dusty? That sounds like a major event and big match, worthy of WrestleMania to me. But then what? The follow-up and aftermath would have been hard to book. It sounds so good on paper, but the reality, plus two egos like Dusty and Hogan, I just don’t see it working.
