Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Ric Flair announced that he has been invited to an interview with Joe Rogan to discuss my problem with everyone who has an issue with me. Thoughts?
A multi-national platform for Flair to embarrass himself. I just hope he stays away from the bar until after the interview. Flair is a wrestling legend inside the ring, but he should not be allowed to do media, social media, or be let out of his room at this point. I’ll always be a big fan of the wrestler, Ric Flair, but every time I hear his name mentioned now, I automatically cringe and find myself dreading what might be coming.
Has WWE completely misfired with Stephanie Vaquer? How about Giulia?
Both women are excellent inside the ring, but neither has a marketable personality or can cut a promo. And the little fire each showed in NXT has vanished since they came to the main roster. WWE is completely dropping the ball with these two women.
Now that his career is almost done, what are your thoughts on Cena? Is he the GOAT? Top 3,5,10? Did he change wrestling for the better or not?
Cena was a solid and consistent performer for nearly two decades. He’s not the GOAT in my opinion, but he would be in most people’s top ten. And for the most part, I’d say the changes he brought to WWE and wrestling were positive.
Braun Strowman versus One Man Gang. Who wins?
Strowman is slightly larger, in better shape, and has a few inches over the One Man Gang. Gang would give a great fight and make Braun realize he’d been in a match, but I think Strowman would win.
Are there any current AEW names looking likely to you for a potential Ricky Saints/Lexus King/Ethan Page NXT move? Not necessarily the biggest names on the show, but who could likely make this type of jump next, who may want to give it a go,/realistically fill an NXT role?
In other words, who in AEW could decide to make the jump to NXT for more success? Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Garcia, Hook, Action Andretti, MJF, The Von Erich boys, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Aaron Solow all come to mind as being ready for a move.
Is Kris Statlander a paper champion? Who would you put the belt on next in the AEW women’s division?
Statlander is a good wrestler, and while not as charismatic outside the ring as some of the other ladies, she’s very good in the ring where it counts. As for who may be next in line after Kris for that Women’s Championship, keep an eye on Athena, hoping to become a double-champ.
Starting in January, WWE SmackDown will return to its three-hour format. Thoughts?
I can’t wait. More highlights on YouTube for me to enjoy. Yay!
What do you think of Mercedes Moné’s one-word reaction to John Cena’s retirement? She simply said, “Goodbye!” Thoughts?
With Mone, it’s hard to tell. Does she have some kind of beef against Cena, or is she just staying in character and trying to generate some controversy? I doubt it actually means anything or is anything serious. It’s just Mone being Mone, nothing more.
Do you think AEW should publicly address Sarah Stock’s claims? Or will silence only make things worse?
Stocks has made some wild claims like her personal beef with Amanda Huber, the lack of a Human Resources division, the mistreatment of Mexican wrestlers and women, and the stars getting left at the airport. That happened to CM Punk at the Wembley show in London. Most of her claims seem to be valid, and other wrestlers, while trying to stay out of this, are backing her up. AEW should address her claims, but if they’re as true as they seem, they probably won’t. They’ll do as they usually do, ignore the fire for the smoke, and bury it all under NDAs. AEW should address the issues, but Tony ignores things until they blow up. Again, see CM Punk and the EVPs for an example. Nothing will be addressed or fixed.
Be honest… do you miss Jacob Fatu?
He’s a likeable chap, and I kind of miss the excitement and energy he brings to the ring each week. I’ll be glad when Fatu returns to the ring.
Kevin Owens and Natalya have been named as new mentors for Season 3 of WWE LFG, replacing The Undertaker and Michelle McCool. Thoughts?
I’m surprised that Undertaker and McCool are giving up their spots, but I guess the backlash of the past year may have caught up with them. Natalya and Kevin Owens are good choices as replacements. A smart move by the WWE.
Would you drop over $1,200 to see John Cena’s final match live?
No, I wouldn’t, but I’m admittedly cheap, hate crowds, hate traveling, and have anxiety issues, so I probably wouldn’t go if it were free and the match was being held at our local high school. But luckily for WWE, many are willing to pay the crazy prices to see Cena’s last match and be a part of wrestling history. I’d just prefer to watch it on TV or my computer instead. That’s just me.
