Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Should WWE be doing more to push diverse, younger talent into the spotlight?
Look at the current WWE main roster. Look at the NXT roster. What group isn’t being represented? WWE is doing fine as it currently is.
Can Stephanie Vaquer be done with Nikki Bella now, please?
Given her injury and the boot, plus the attack by Raquel Rodriguez on RAW, I think it’s safe to say that Vaquer versus Bella is over for now.
With all of the current couples in WWE, should they bring back the Mixed Match Challenge?
That would be interesting. Not because of the couples such as AJ Lee & CM Punk, Becky & Seth, Dom & Liv, Aleister Black & Zelina, Priest & Rhea, etc., but because I liked the original concept and series. With all the names now, it would be awesome.
Who was the rudest wrestler you’ve ever met in person? And why?
This would be Sable at a signing back in the ’90s in Fayetteville, NC. She obviously didn’t want to be there and never took off her sunglasses or spoke to anyone. I think she was burned out and just going through the motions. She wasn’t so much rude as totally uninterested. She definitely left a lasting impression.
Why was Tommy Rich such a big star in the ’80s? I just don’t see it.
It was a different era, and Tommy was young, good-looking, and the Georgia audience knew Tommy was one of their own. He had that strong hometown appeal and a face that sold magazines and drew fans. Tommy had that “It” and it worked, right place and right time.
Brinley Reece has announced she’s leaving NXT after three years. Thoughts?
I’ve seen her a few times on WWE Evolve, and Reece is a good talent. From what I understand, she has medical issues that need to be taken care of. Maybe she’ll eventually return, but it seems, for now, Reece is doing what she feels is best for herself, as she should. Best wishes to her.
If you could have a Meet & Greet with any three wrestlers, dead or alive, who would it be?
Baron Von Raschke, Bill Eadie (The Masked Superstar), and Blackjack Mulligan.
Which wrestler had the most epic entrance in Jim Crockett Promotions?
Crockett didn’t use theme music for the wrestlers often, but with one major exception. So, basically by default, although it would have every live crowd standing on their feet, I’d have to say the boy from New York City, the boogie-woogie man, Jimmy Valiant.
An Independent promoter is suing WWE and 2K Games over alleged theft of intellectual property used by The Bloodline. Thoughts?
There is no such thing as an original story or idea in professional wrestling. It’s all been done before. Using this guy’s logic, every time a wrestler calls another wrestler a bald-headed geek, the estate of Paul Jones and Baron Von Raschke should file a lawsuit. From what I’ve read of this case, it’s reaching quite a bit. It seems like a money-grab to me since a company like TKO is more likely to agree to a settlement than drag something out and fight it in court.
What mainstream announcers would make great wrestling commentators? Howard Cosell, Gus Johnson types.
I have no idea, but off the top of my head, I think game-show hosts, like John Davidson or Tom Bergeron, would be good at calling a wrestling match.
B-Fab apparently suffered a concussion during the WWE post-holiday tour. Thoughts?
Accidents happen, and hopefully, she’ll be back in the ring soon. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
What city is overdue for a WWE PLE?
Charlotte, NC. Charlotte is a great city with a strong wrestling history. It’d make a great site to host a WWE PLE.
If The Rock has one match left in the tank, who should be his final opponent?
I would say Gunther, but I don’t think Dwayne’s ego would allow him to take the punishment that the match would create. Who would sell for The Rock, make him look great, and could go with him on the mic? How about Austin Theory? Yeah, he’d do well in that role.
