After nearly a week away, it’s time to get busy and get back to work as your resident Guiding Light and party host. I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.

Philadelphia wants another WrestleMania. Which city should get it next?

From what I understand, the plans for 2025 are either Las Vegas or Minneapolis. Either would be okay, but I think Vegas is the better option of the two. I’d love to see Mania come to Charlotte, NC, given the strong wrestling history and tradition that is NC, but that’s probably not likely. Charlotte does have the Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, which can seat 75,000 people, but not much else. It’s just down the road from my home so that would be my pick.

Why did Ronda Rousey’s second run with WWE fall so flat?

Rhonda got stale and wasn’t getting better. Even the best steak gets boring every night without something added to the menu. Rousey is a great athlete and has lots of potential, but she wasn’t invested and seeking to embrace and grow, not to mention that Vince was the boss and she wasn’t booked to her maximum potential. The lack of success in Round Two had a great many reasons, but I think those were the primary ones.

Who is on your Mount Rushmore of WWE Intercontinental Champions?

Right off the top of my head, I’d say, Gunther, The Honky Tonk Man, Mr. Perfect, and The Miz.

Do you think John Cena should win his historic 17th WWE World Title before retiring?

No, I don’t. He doesn’t need it and it would make the WWE Championship look like a prop for hotshot booking. If Cena was able to wrestle full-time and deliver a strong run as the champion, then it wouldn’t be so bad, but he’s not what he was and he’s not able to do that anymore so save the title for wrestlers who can step up and make the title better instead.

Just read that Triple H got rid of another Vince rule. If you’re known by a name on the indies he’s going to let you keep that name. Smart move in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

I think it’s a case-by-case basis, but it does make sense that if a wrestler already has a strong name and brand, then why not capitalize on it? That won’t work for everyone but for those who already have a reputation and brand that works for the WWE and their product, it’s a win-win idea.

What do You Think of the New World Heavyweight Tag-Team Championship Titles that were Presented to The Miz & R-Truth on WWE RAW?

The belts are okay, but honestly, I’m not a big belt guy. I’m just happy to see R-Truth getting a push in the spotlight and wearing some championship gold. He deserves it.

Who’s more fucked up on social media, Marty Jannetty or Val Venis?

I don’t find Val Venis very fucked up. What he says mostly makes sense and while his delivery can get kind of obnoxious and out there at times, the message is more right than wrong and he has every right to express his opinion and views. Jannetty though? Marty just doesn’t give a damn and is having fun being Marty Jannetty. I follow both men on X and enjoy both of their posts.

Dijakovic versus The Big Boss Man. Who wins?

Dijakovic is a big star for NXT and has a tremendous future ahead of him. The man is talented and one of the best talents in wrestling today. That being said, has he ever been to Cobb County, GA? Could he go one-on-one with the man once known as Big Bubba Rogers? I don’t think so. The Boss Man would have Dijakovic serving some hard time. Boss Man wins.

What was your impression of AEW’s Battle of the Belts this past week?

That was a couple of weeks ago now and it’s barely a memory anymore, but my biggest impression was that it was just another show that did nothing for me and was a waste of TV. What stands out the most for me though is that it’s an AEW show about defending AEW titles, but it only had three matches and they were for a title from ROH, a title not officially recognized by AEW, and a non-title match. So much for living up to the hype, right? AEW needs to do better.

If The Rock wrestles at WrestleMania 41, who do you want to see him go against the most?

The obvious choices are either Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns, but I’d pop and love to see The Rock go against and take a loss against CM Punk. Just imagine the promos and build, and it’d give Punk his win back after the loss to The Rock at the 2013 Royal Rumble. He owes Dwayne a huge receipt that could finally get paid in full.

And there you go. Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. I’m playing catch-up after nearly a week in the hospital so don’t go away. More stuff to come. Stay well and watch out for ambushes by Liv in the backstage area. I’ll see you at the matches.

Ubuntu!
