It’s the return of Wrestling Fact or Fiction. My thanks to Mr. Jake Chambers of 411mania.com/wrestling for coming up with these awesome statements which I am about to agree or not with and opine my thoughts. I’m your Guiding Light, Doug, and this is how we do it. Let’s roll.

Statement #1: The ending of WrestleMania XL was satisfying.

FACT: While I’ll be the first to admit that it was a bit ‘by the numbers’, it worked for me. It told a story with a fitting climax that has the right, at least in my opinion, ending, plus it set the seeds for more intrigue and stories to come. The audience went home happy and I’ll admit it here. I literally stood up and yelled when Cody won the title and ‘finished his story’. Maybe it wasn’t for everyone, but I was satisfied with how things ended.

Statement #2: It was wrong for AEW to air the footage of the All-In backstage fight.

FACT: Yes, it popped a rating for AEW Dynamite and drew a few extra thousand people to the TV audience, most of whom left again right after the segment ended, but what other purpose did it serve? Did it make AEW look stronger? I don’t think so. It made them look childish and petty in my opinion, unable to let a dead horse lie, and proving that every single thing that CM Punk said about the incident was 100% true. Why add credibility to a former employee who is now one of the biggest stars of the opposition? That doesn’t make sense to me. It came across to me as childish and immature and that’s all I’ve got to say about that. Just a bad idea all around.

Statement #3: The Rock will not wrestle again until WrestleMania 41.

FACT: The Rock is a busy man and has so many things on his plate, he honestly doesn’t have the time to prepare for any kind of extended run and a good match right now. While I have no doubts that we’ll see The Rock make appearances from time to time and make his presence felt, the current roster is so stacked, that WWE doesn’t need Rock to come and wrestle. Less is more and using The Rock sparingly and only as needed makes far more sense and leads to a bigger impact when he is available to come and step into the ring.

Statement #4: Will Ospreay was wrong to respond to HHH’s comment about wrestlers not wanting to come to WWE because of the grind.

FICTION: While I’m not sure how smart it was politically to make the comments he did, Ospreay had something to say and he did it. It may ruffle a few feathers in any future relations with the WWE, but if there is money to be made, a few comments online shouldn’t matter. Triple H said what he said and Ospreay, taking offense, replied. It’s not a big deal in the big picture of things and doesn’t matter.

Statement #5: You are excited for Jon Moxley’s run as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in New Japan.

FICTION: I’m not a fan of Moxley and have little interest in New Japan and whoever their champion may or may not be. It’s just another title for Moxley and something to add to the already overcrowded AEW title scene. I’m sure it’s a great honor for Moxley and more power to him for this accomplishment to add to his resume, but aside from that, it’s not a big deal to me personally.

Statement #6: The new tracking shots used by WWE production lately are cool.

FICTION: It’s cool to a point, but less is more and when it’s happening every show, it’s not a big deal and gets old fast. When it makes sense and adds to the scene, use the long hallway shots and long walks, but when it’s just being done to be done, refrain. Too much can often be just as bad as not at all. WWE needs to understand that.

And there you go. My thanks for reading and again to Mr. Jake Chambers of 411Mania.com for allowing me to play with his toys for a few minutes. Questions, comments, and any thoughts are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap it up. I need to go take my meds and eat some breakfast so I can keep my doctors happy. I’ll be back later today with more stuff. Be well and I’ll see you at the matches.

Ubuntu!
