Wrestling Fact Or Fiction – February 7, 2014

Wrestling Fact Or Fiction
February 7, 2014

And now, its time to do that “Fact or Fiction” thing that I do so well. Must be Thursday… lol. As per usual, the questions come from 411mania.com/wrestling. And the answers? Well, that’s just what I do. Let’s do this…

1. CM Punk walking away from WWE with out any sort of notice and before his contract was up was unprofessional.

FACT: I kind of understand why he did it and I don’t really blame him, but still, from a strictly business point, it is and was unprofessional to leave like he did with no notice or prior warning. WWE has their shows and plans laid out ahead of time and he had committments that he had agreed to and was contracted for. He had his reasons and I hope that Punk and the WWE get their issues straight, but there are better ways to get the point across and CM Punk was not professional at all in the way he acted.

2. MVP is a good addition to the TNA roster.

FACT: He’s a good talent who still has a lot left in the tank and has a good name recognition. I don’t think he can replace names like AJ Styles, Sting or Jeff Hardy in the eyes of the TNA fans (both of them), but MVP is a good guy and he’s not tainted so what the hell. Give it a shot!

3. You like that WWE is looking into more international talent, such as Prince Devitt and KENTA.

FACT: Anytime we can get new talent and fresh faces into the WWE roster, be it from the international market or the local Indy down the street, it’s a good thing.

4. The Wyatt Family vs. Shield match at the Elimination Chamber PPV should not be a traditional six man tag, and should instead take place in the Elimination Chamber.

FICTION: The Elimination Chamber is there to determine who will be wearing the WWE World Championship at Wrestlemania XXX and not for six-man feuds. This is just the beginning of the Wyatt’s versus Shield feud and it’s better to start off slowly, with a traditional match, before moving into other matches with the stipulations. Don’t blow the load in the first match – build up the anticipation and excitment first.

5. TNA running a joint show with WRESTLE-1 in Japan, and later broadcasting it as One Night Only PPV, is a show that interests you as a wrestling fan.

FACT: If only for a chance to see The Great Muta wrestle again, I am interested. The TNA part of it, not so much.

6. You approve of Christian and Antonio Cesaro’s addition to the Elimination Chamber match.

FACT: Absolutely! Christian is a great performer and one of my favorites and I’m extremely stoked to see him in the main event picture where he belongs. As for Cesaro, he’s got all the tools and is going to be a break-out performer in my opinion and I’m thinking that the eventual rise to the top starts at the Elimination Chamber.

7. TNA’s Bad Influence paying tribute to past tag teams is the kind of thing wrestling fans should appreciate and have fun with.

FACT: It’s fun to watch and I have no problem with it. It’s cool!

8. While it may come off as an evil corporate move, WWE has every right to try and protect WrestleMania 31 weekend in Santa Clara, California as their own.

FICTION: I almost put “fact” because WWE does have every right to protect their product, but having the other promotions and wrestling companies come in and do shows doesn’t hurt the WWE in the slightest. I think it adds to the WWE experience and helps bring in even more people and fans to the event. WWE might not like it because they’re not the ones making all the money that weekend, but the diversity and choices for the fans and all the extra activitites that are going on are great for the sport of pro wrestling and whether Vince and HHH can admit it to themselves or not, having all these other events and activities going on, with Wrestlemania as the centerpiece attraction, is truly what is best for business. ‘Nuff said!

And there you go. Another week in the books. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you back on Monday when a new edition of “Tossing Salt – Worldwide News” will be coming up. I’m Doug and you’re not. Catch you on the flip side.

Ubuntu!
