Well, I was going to do a full “Tossing Salt” column, but my inner muse seems to have left the building. I made up a long list of topics to rant and rave about, but just can’t seem to find the motivation and energy to do the actual ranting and raving. What the… ??? So I’m just going to post the two parts that I did manage to complete and finish, which is the “Fact or Fiction” part and my predictions for tonight’s pay-per-view offering from the WWE, Night of Champions. Maybe after the pay-per-view tonight and RAW tomorrow, the voices inside my head will return and I’ll be able to stay focused long enough for a complete and whole column. Who knows? Anyhow, this is what I’ve got. Enjoy! And always remember, it’s your duty to shake your booty. Enjoy!
Night Of Champions Predictions…
WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman vs. John Cena.
It would be a mistake, in my opinion, for the WWE to put the title back on Cena at this point. Cena doesn’t need the title and actually needs to be kept as far away from the title as possible. Let Brock keep the title and keep doing what it is he does. Then, when someone does finally defeat him and take away the title, it will mean just that much more. I think it’s going to be a slobberknocker of a match and Cena will put up one hell of a fight, but in the end, Brock hits the F-5 and retains.
Winner and STILL WWE World Champion: Brock Lesnar
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins.
As we all know now, Roman will not be able to compete due to being in the hospital. So I guess that makes this one easy to predict.
Winner by Forfeit: Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins versus Dean Ambrose
I’m figuring that Rollins will come out to get his arm raised and win by forfeit. And just when he’s all cocky and celebrating, here come Dean Ambrose and we’ve got a match. Look for a wild and crazy brawl and in the end, it’s the so-called Titty Master, Dean Ambrose who will walk out with his arm raised in victory.
Winner: Dean Ambrose
Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton.
It’s Jericho’s last night of his current WWE contract so it wouldn’t make any sense for Jericho to win the match. Randy wins with the RKO.
Winner: Randy Orton
WWE United States champion Sheamus vs. Cesaro.
Cesaro needs to get back on track with his career. Ever since his very brief stint as a Paul Heyman guy, he’s been losing as much as he wins and it’s really killing any momentum he made have built over the past year. Sheamus is the U.S. Champion, but he’s been more of an afterthought than anything else as of late too. Both men need the win, but I think Cesaro needs it more to get things swinging in the right direction again.
Winner and NEW United States Champion: Cesaro
WWE Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz with Damien Sandow.
Dolph is on a roll and Miz seems to be on a roll himself, but he doesn’t need a title at this point. Dolph and Zack Ryder are taking over the JBL & Cole show and I think they (or at least Dolph) will take over this match as well. The era of Ziggler is upon us.
Winner and STILL Intercontintental Champion: Dolph Ziggler
WWE Divas champion Paige vs. Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee
Paige and AJ counter each other and the cast member of the Total Divas show gets the title as a result. Sounds about right to me.
Winner: Nikki Bella
WWE Tag Team champions The Usos vs. Goldust & Stardust.
The Usos have been the champs for a while and have done a great job as the Champions, but it’s getting stale and time for a change. Time to stir up the dust, if you will. Look for some new champions as the Rhodes boys take that trip to the pay window and become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
Winners and NEW WWE Tag Team Champions: Goldust and Stardust
Mark Henry vs. Rusev with Lana.
Somebody is gonna get their ass kicked and it’s going to be a solid match. Henry will dominate, but I don’t think Rusev is ready to start losing yet. Maybe we’ll see Zeb and Swagger get involved and Henry will become a new “Real American”. WE THE PEOPLE! Mark dominates, but Rusev ends up doing that sneaky evil foreigner thing and gets the pin and win.
Winner: Rusev w/ Lana
The Peep Show with Chris Jericho (Pre-Show)
No prediction here, but Christian is back. Let the peeps rejoice! Yay!!
And now, for your viewing pleasures, here is the Fact or Fiction thingy that I sometimes do…
Wrestling Fact Or Fiction….
1. You are excited for Sunday’s WWE Night of Champions PPV.
FACT: It looks as if it’s going to be a stacked card from top to bottom and even though I’d love to see Bray Wyatt, Bo Dallas and Heath Slater somewhere on the card, I won’t complain. Every match, with the possible exception of the Divas match, looks good on paper. I’m looking forward to this one.
2. Charlotte is the future of the WWE Women’s Division.
FICTION: I believe she is part of the future of the WWE Women’s Division, but it takes more than one or two good workers. It also takes good booking, good storylines and for someone in Creative or named McMahon to actually give a damn about the Division. Right now, it’s more or less an afterthought and until someone like Fit Finley takes over as Agent for the Divas again and when women who wrestle first and look great second is the rule and not the exception as it currently is now, the Diva’s division in the WWE will never be more than second rate and second class.
3. Taking the title off of Brock Lesnar at WWE Night of Champions would be one of the stupidest booking decisions the company could make.
FACT: Brock is the most credible and real beast currently on the WWE roster. Everyone else has been booked up and down so often, they look second rate in comparison, except for John Cena and I believe that the vast majority of wrestling fans, myself included, are all Cena’ed out. I don’t mind him being there and having his little feuds, but I don’t want to see him as the “Champ”. Been there and done that too many times. It’s time for some new blood at the top of the card.
4. Vince McMahon’s edict that John Cena be booked strongly so that fans do not look at him as a lost cause is the perfect example of everything wrong with WWE booking.
FACT: Sooner or later, Cena will not be able to be the top guy in the WWE and there is going to be major problems when that happens. Best to reduce his role, make him more human instead of super-human and use him to put over and build new talent. He doesn’t have to be a jobber and it’s best to keep him reasonably strong, but even Superman had weaknesses in kryptonite and magic. We need to see more of Cena’s “kryptonite” and let some other guys have that spotlight for a while. It would definitely be best for business.
5. Giving away Rollins vs. Reigns on Raw just days before the PPV was bad booking.
FACT: Unless they were planning on pulling a bait and switch routine on us Sunday night, it was pretty damn dumb. But then again, with the breaking news that Roman Reigns has been taken to the hospital for emergency surgery for a hernia problem, it might end up working out in the WWE’s favor. Now Rollins can claim that he put Roman out of action and demand the referee raise his hand in victory at the PPV, only to have Dean Ambrose return early from his movie making / “injury” and give us that match instead. So it looks as if it may work itself out, but having that match on RAW in the first place was a doofus move.
6. TNA not having any matches locked in place for the October 12th Bound For Glory PPV is a bad sign.
FACT: TNA is living on borrowed time at this point. It doesn’t seem that they have any real idea where they’re going or even who’s going to be around for the rest of the ride. I haven’t read the spoilers for the Impact! tapings as of yet so maybe they’re shaping things up, but that place just seems to be a ball of confusion right now and I’m kind of expecting that they’ll just end up throwing something together at the last minute to fill the card.
By the way, I forgot my disclaimer bit. The questions above that I used for the FoF come from my friends over at 411mania.com. The answers and responses come from me.
And I guess that’s all for the moment. Sorry it’s so short (reminds me of an ex-boyfriend), but it’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll talk at you fine peeps later.
