Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
September 14, 2017
DougMaynard.com
Greetings and happy Thursday to everyone. I’m feeling a little down today and am trying to get myself pumped back up and in a better mood. I was going to do a “This & That” piece (and still may), but I don’t want my loyal readers (both of them) to be overwhelmed by the bitch mood I’m in and kill their vibe. So I’ll just do a quick “Wrestling Q&A” instead. They’re always fun and might help get me out of my funk (not Terry or Dory). By the way, I need some new questions. I got these from my friends over at the KoK (Kult of Kayfabe), but as often as I do these Q&A things, I need more. I always need more. Yes, I am needy and whining about it. I sound just like a liberal snowflake here… lol. So if you have any kind of questions about wrestling, music, life in general, politics or anything at all, please send them to me. Thank you. And now, are you ready for some rasslin’? Let’s do this…
How do you feel about The Revival?
I think that they’re a fantastic team made up of two very talented and entertaining men and if they can ever get past the injuries and get back on RAW where they belong, they will make a huge impact and do very, very well. And I’d love to see The Revival feud with the Hardys and then maybe on down the road, go up against Gallows and Anderson. That would be an old-school style classic that would be incredible to view.
Favorite wrestler not in WWE?
Mike Youngblood. I’ve known this man since he was a kid and watched him perform in the WWF when he was 18 years old and green as grass. I’ve witnessed him in hundreds of matches over the years, working all over the world and he’s arguably the best damn in-ring performer I know who doesn’t currently work in WWE or GFW. If the territory days were still here, Youngblood would be a household name and a huge, huge star. That didn’t quite work out as it could though and Mike was too spirited to be the corporate monkey and prefers to march to his own beat. And now he’s back in the ring, just coming off a couple of great matches against Paul Lee, plus an upcoming tour with the cooperation of the USO. He’s back and better than ever. A great wrestler in the ring and an even better person outside of it, Youngblood will always be one of my favorite wrestlers and favorite people in general. He may not work for WWE at the moment, but he is and will always be a true “Superstar”.
Does anyone else see Enzo as a copy of Kanye West? God, he’s so fucking annoying.
Enzo is annoying, but a copy of Kanye West? Is even Enzo that bad? I don’t see it. They both get on my nerves, but Kayne is in a league of dipshit-assclown of his own and Enzo can’t even come close.
Who is your favorite mid / low card wrestler of all time?
Of the current WWE roster, it has to be Heath Slater. But of all time, I have to go with the man who keeps the spirit of Disco alive, the man who always reminds us that it’s our duty to shake our booty, the one and only Disco Inferno.
Thoughts on Ziggler “mocking” Warrior and others.
Every so often, the WWE loves to do these impersonation angles. Big Show did it for a while and Charlie Haas did it for a bit too. And who can forget DX mocking “The Corporation”, “Vince and Shane” and of course, “The Nation of Domination”. And now it’s Dolph’s turn. So far, he’s been excellent and funny and entertaining. I’m laughing and enjoying the show and Dolph seems to be having fun so it’s all good. Not sure exactly where they’re going with this and what the payoff will be, but Dolph is being a heel and mocking his peers. Good for him. Keep it up.
Thoughts about the Kevin Owens / Vince McMahon confrontation on Smackdown Live.
How surreal was it to see a 72 year old Vince McMahon take not only a headbutt, getting busted open in the process, but also a punch, a kick to the ribs, a super-kick and a splash from the top from Kevin Owens. This tells me that Vince has a lot of faith in Kevin and is really invested in Owens being a huge star for WWE and the future of the company. I also think it shows that Vince McMahon is a tough SOB and probably misses being in on the physical action from time to time and wants to show everyone that he’s still got it. I could easily picture in my head Vince backstage telling Owens before the segment that when they go out there, Kevin better lay into him and not hold back or else he’ll hear those words “You’re Fired” for real. The whole segment went great and was the best thing I’ve seen in WWE, aside from Miz’s awesome work on RAW, in a long long time. Kevin just got that rocket strapped to his back, courtesy of a bloody Vince McMahon and the sky is the limit. A great segment and now, I’m actually looking forward to seeing more.
And there you go. I’m out of questions so it’s time to close this Mama up. And did it work? Do I feel a little better? Actually, yes. I do. Now I’m hungry. Time for lunch. And so as I go find something to munch on, thank you for reading. Questions and comments and any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. And until the next time, take it easy. I’m gone.
Ubuntu!
