It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
TNA Wrestling will be partnering with Endeavor, the parent company of WWE and UFC, for the relaunch of their streaming service. Does this mean a potential “Forbidden Door” event with WWE or even WWE buying up TNA? Thoughts?
I don’t think we’ll be seeing Roman Reigns showing up on Impact saying “Acknowledge me!”, or Josh Alexander as part of the Royal Rumble. All this says is that TNA is stepping up their streaming game and they’re going to the same company for services that handles Major League Baseball, WWE Network, and dozens of other companies. It’s simply a smart business move on the part of TNA and nothing more.
Dave Penzer is leaving TNA. Thoughts?
Penzer has been a part of TNA/Impact Wrestling, serving as their ring announcer, since the very beginning, after a long career at WCW. I haven’t seen anything indicating why he’s moving on, but reports say that it’s his decision so I’m assuming after over thirty years on the road, he’s probably just tired and ready to take a break. Best wishes to Penzer in his seeming retirement. He’ll be missed.
Are you excited for the upcoming AEW debut of The Von Erichs this week in Dallas on Dynamite? Will you be watching?
I am excited to know that Kevin Von Erich and his sons, Marshall & Ross, will be a part of AEW tonight, And yes, I will be watching.
Matt Hardy in regards to WWE bringing back CM Punk: “You can’t hate that move by WWE, for sure. It was a shocking move. Obviously, it was gonna get people talking. It’s business, and it’s good for business. I would imagine it’s an environment where I think Phil would be on his best behavior there. If that makes him happy and he’s good with that, then I’m fine with that too. I’m cool with that. It is what it is.” (quote courtesy of Fightful.com). Thoughts?
I’m sure that CM Punk and WWE are relieved that Matt Hardy is fine and cool with Punk returning to WWE. It has to take a load off to know that Hardy approves. Oy vey!
Trent Seven has signed with TNA. Thoughts?
Trent is a good wrestler and solid hand in the ring. He’ll fit right in with the TNA roster and hopefully have a good run. Good for him.
Vince Russo says that he would never take a WWE Hall of Fame Induction and that it’s a sham. He doesn’t need the approval of Vince McMahon. Thoughts?
Russo is so full of crap, bro. If WWE called him up and said come to Philly for Mania and to be in the Hall of Fame, he’d be on his way in a flash. Russo knows that his chances of being inducted are not strong and he’s just running off at the mouth and trying to generate some hits for his podcast. Nothing more.
Pedro Morales versus Kevin Owens. Who wins?
This is another match that would be good to see, with similar styles and body types. Morales is a wrestler who likes to brawl and KO is the prize-fighter. Kevin would have to play the heel and the fans would be divided. I think Morales would win.
With the impending retirements of Sting and Brian Danielson, do you think they would both fit well into creative/trainers for the company? I mean Brian was trained by two greats of the business, and Sting has had a long and brilliant career. If not where would they fit into the company once retired?
I think Danielson, when he retires from the ring, will remain with AEW as a trainer, agent, and whatever other role that Tony Khan asks of him. He’s already taken the steps and has moved into management positions. Sting though has never really shown any desire to work in Creative or train other wrestlers. My thoughts on the WCW icon are that when he retires, he’s going to go home and play Grandpa, enjoy his life, and take it easy for a while. We may see him with the occasional cameo or appearance, but little more than that.
You’re signed to AEW as a manager of an AEW talent. Who’s your client?
I only get one client? I was hoping for a whole faction of men and women to sit backstage for weeks at a time while Tony forgets we’re even there to use on television. One person though? I think I’d like to work with Jake Hager.
What’s your ALL-TIME Favorite Female Pro Wrestling Faction?
Aside from Damage CNTRL and some of the groups in Japan, I couldn’t even think of any all-women factions in wrestling, but then I remembered WWE and Pretty Mean Sisters (PMS). Terri Runnels and Jacqueline, torment poor Meat. The memories made me smile so let’s go with them. PMS for the win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for Mr. Fuji and the salt in the eyes and I’ll see you at the matches.
