It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. We’re in catch-up mode today. I’m your host and Guiding Light, Doug. Let’s roll.
AEW released ten superstars today including The Tate Twins aka Dalton Castle’s Boys, Anthony Henry, Stu Grayson, Gravity, Dasha Fuentes, Slim J, Parker Bordeaux, Jose The Assistant, and Jora Johl. Thoughts?
On the same day that he was called out for not being a “boss” and being a joke, Tony Khan fired ten people. Coincidence? Truthfully though, I understand that the AEW roster is bloated, and cuts need to be made. It sucks for the wrestlers who were released, but money had to be freed up to pay for the new, big stars that Tony recently hired. Sad, but it happens.
Tully Blanchard w/ Baby Doll versus Bob Backlund w/ Arnold Skoaland. Who wins?
As awesome as Tully and Baby Doll are, Backlund was a wrestling machine. Backlund would most likely win.
Did you hear CM Punk’s interview with Ariel Helwani? Thoughts?
It was an incredible interview that addressed a lot of issues, cleared up a lot of things, and had everyone talking. I’m sure that Tony Khan and AEW fans aren’t happy, but I found it refreshing and enlightening. A must-hear two hours for sure.
Michael Cole emphasized on commentary that: At WrestleMania XL, the Tag Titles will be hung above the ring, and the match will continue until both sets of Titles have been retrieved. So does that mean two sets of champions and the tag team titles are being split up again?
As I understand it, that’s the plan to have two sets of tag team champions again. As strong as the tag team division is right now for all three brands of WWE, I think this is a good move and makes sense.
Lil Wayne is coming to Wrestlemania 40 and premiering a new single at the event. Thoughts?
Who? Little Wayne is a big star and famous rapper. I get it, but I’m not a big rap fan and if we do have to have a rapper, I can think of many I’d prefer to see than Little Wayne. The man rhymes shit with shit. True story. But it’s all good. At least I know when the snack & bathroom break will happen.
How would y’all feel if the Hardy Boyz returned at Wrestlemania?
They’re both in Philadelphia, with Jeff doing a concert while Matt is doing a live podcast this weekend so it’s a possibility. If they show up and do something at Mania, I won’t lie. I’ll pop.
Now that we have Bianca, Naomi, and Jade as a team at Mania. Which of the three do you think is going to go heel on the others?
Jade comes across to me as more of a natural heel, but it’s too soon for her. Bianca has been teasing it for a bit and her husband has already turned heel as part of Lashley’s group so if there is a turn this weekend, it should be Bianca who does it.
With the depth on the WWE roster for both the men and women, should they reintroduce the European/TV titles and create a women’s midcard title?
No. There are too many titles in pro wrestling as it is and while WWE isn’t quite as bad as AEW/ROH, they still don’t need any new additions to the title scene. Between the main roster and NXT, there are more than enough to go around.
What’s one change you would make to the Wrestlemania card? And why is it adding the Meaty Men Invitational to the card?
The Meaty Man Invitational as part of the Kickoff Show or at least as part of the live Smackdown this coming Friday night. It needs to happen.
Roman Reigns & The Rock versus Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage. Who wins?
With all four men in their prime, this match would be incredible. It’s hard to pick a winner because I can picture reasons and scenarios for having both teams take the victory. I’d see lots of chaos, outside interference, referee bumps, and genuine craziness in this match. And Hogan/Savage should take the win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you later on today with more stuff. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
