Twitter is a land of full questions. And here, I’m answering a few of the better ones. It’s the Ultimate X Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Is it ethical to raise animals for food when lab-grown meat is becoming a viable option?
Ethical? I don’t know about all of that, but what I do know is that most of that lab-grown meat and plant-based meat is just plain nasty. I like hamburgers, steak, bacon, pork chops, and turkey. I like meat, but I want the real stuff. Maybe it’s immoral and unethical, but I like what I like and see no reason to change.
At what age do men stop looking at women?
I quit when I was in my teens when, after dating a few and realizing that they were psycho, plus it did nothing for me. But I like guys and not women so my own experiences wouldn’t be a factor in this answer. The average, straight male? The day he quits looking at women is the day he takes his final breath and is stone-cold dead.
What job deserves to make double their current salary?
People who work in customer service and deal with the public daily, and stick with it. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy. Anyone who has to deal with people regularly, and aren’t allowed to drink beer at the time they’re doing it, pray for them and give them as much money as they want. WE deserve it.
Describe yourself in one word.
Lost!
Do you actually like The Monkees?
I’ve never actually met any of them so I can’t say for sure. I do like the music that they made. And the TV show? It’s kind of cheesy, but I’ll watch it if there isn’t anything better to do.
Today is Rod Stewart’s 80th birthday. Favorite song by Rod Stewart?
The Killing of Georgie, Part I and II. This song came out in 1976 and nobody talked about being gay. Yes, Rod was telling the story about a friend who had been killed, who just happened to be gay, but it was so groundbreaking at the time. And as a confused, young dude, I could relate to the song and the message that it was okay to be gay. Yeah, it also said that if you’re gay, you’ll die, but that was secondary. It’s just a good song, especially for the time.
What’s the furthest you have ever traveled for a date?
Well, I used to travel between Laurinburg and Wilmington, about 115 miles each way, a few times a week because I was seeing someone here in the ‘Burg and I was “in love”. Actually, I was stupid, but in love sounds better. That would be the furthest. As I’ve gotten older, I have a fifteen-mile limit on hook-ups and booty calls. I don’t mind discreet encounters and random hook-ups, but if the drive takes longer than the encounter will, it’s not worth it.
Should we consider homeopathy as a legitimate form of medicine or is it just pseudoscience?
If it works for you, it’s legit, There is nothing wrong with living and eating healthy. But all it truly is is the power of positive thinking and mind over matter. It is real? I can’t say. I’m not a doctor or scientist. It’s not medicine, but it’s not fake either. It just is.
Why do we dream, and what can our dreams tell us about our subconscious?
Dreams are a way for our subconscious to release the stuff we’re keeping buried and trying to ignore and bring it to our attention. It tells us to pay more attention and don’t ignore what our mind and body want us to know. Or maybe it’s just a pathway to another realm or dimension? I don’t know. I’m not a doctor.
Should there be limits to free speech when it comes to hate speech or misinformation?
Some limits are necessary, but the determination of what those limits might be is a slippery slope to climb. Opinions, thoughts, and feelings are always welcome, but blatant lies that are known to be lies and may intentionally hurt someone can not be permitted. I would say it’s a case-by-case question and answer. The bottom line for me is that I believe in free speech. Say what you want to say. But also be prepared to face the consequences of those words. For every action, there is a reaction. And as for free speech? Nothing’s free. ‘Nuff said!
And I guess that’s all for now. Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and questions are welcome and appreciated. I’m going to bed now. Have a great night.
