Tossing Salt Presents:
Opposing Views
(The Stupid Idiot Edition)
January 9, 2018

Welcome my friends to a very special edition of “Opposing Views”. Opposing Views is the once-a-week column where I talk the talk and walk the walk in the world of politics as I take politically orientated questions from the Facebook page of a group from California called “Opposing Views” and give my take and opinion as I answer each question. And it’s a very special edition, the “Stupid Idiot” edition, because I plan on finding a way to use the term “stupid idiot” in every single answer. “Why?”, you ask. Because I can. Now, let’s get busy and do this…

Use ONE WORD to describe the Trumps.

Unified. They stick together, are loyal to each other and are unified in what they say, do and the image they present to the public. People may not like the Trumps, but no one, except for maybe a stupid idiot, can deny that the non-drinking, non-drug using Presidential family are a unified team that only gets stronger as the adversity increases and they draw upon each other for strength.

Jimmy Carter says the media is way harder on Trump than it was on past presidents. Do you agree?

I never thought I’d agree with Jimmy Carter, but he is absolutely correct in that the media, a bunch of stupid idiots, are less than professional and have made it a personal mission, ethics and truth and fair journalism be damned, in their hatred and efforts to unseat and go after the President. No President or political person in history has ever been such a target of media hatred as Trump has had to endure and I’m glad that Carter at least, has the guts to call them out on it.

Who would you vote for if Michelle Obama ran against Trump in 2020?

An unqualified, racist she-male who was was stripped of her license to practice law and has never held any kind of job or position of leadership or public service and is about as qualified to be President as the melting lump of ice and snow in my yard or the billionaire businessman who has done a great job so far and is actually trying to keep his promises to the American public and make America strong again? I think my choice is pretty obvious as it should also be for anyone who is not a total stupid idiot.

Agree or disagree: Trump will never win a second term as president.

If Trump is healthy and willing to run for a second term, he would be a stupid idiot not to run because I believe he would win.

Who is more corrupt: Trump or Hillary?

It’s like comparing Apples to oranges. While I’m not saying that Trump isn’t above bending the rules and being a cold-hearted ass at times (he was a real-estate developer from New York after all), the crookedness and evil heart that is Hillary Clinton is obvious to anyone who isn’t a total stupid idiot. Trump isn’t an angel, but Hillary is as close to Satan on earth as there is can be. And she smells bad too.

Rioters who destroy property should be forced to pay for the damages. Agree or disagree?

If I broke something that belongs to someone else, I’d be expected to replace or repair. It’s common sense and good manners. And if a stupid idiot is “rioting” and causes property damage, they should be expected to do the same. Nothing gives someone the right to damage or destroy items or property that belongs to someone else, regardless of the cause or their “anger”. If they break it, they should fix or replace it… period.

Do you think Americans need to give Trump a chance to be successful as our president?

Don’t these stupid idiots realize that if Trump is successful, then it’s better for all of us and our country. And if Trump fails as President, it makes our country weaker and harms our nation. You don’t have to like Trump or whoever the President is to be supportive and wish them success. If they do well, we do well and if they don’t do well, we all suffer. Any stupid idiot should be able to see that.

Do you think Obama’s presidency was good for America?

He almost doubled our national debt, presided over a weak economy that he couldn’t find ways to grow or stimulate, promoted the racial divide among our people and made us look like a weak bunch of stupid idiots in the eyes of the world. Obama’s presidency set our nation back and hurt America in many, many ways. So was it good? Only a stupid idiot would say so.

Use one word to describe the Obamas.

Does “Stupid idiot” count as one word? Actually that describes their supporters more than the Obama’s themselves. I’ll go with “opportunists”.

Are you proud or embarrassed to have Trump as America’s president?

I don’t support everything he says or does and I wish he’d learn to control his Twitter impulses and maybe think sometimes before he talks, but compared to the previous administration, I’d have to be a total stupid idiot to not prefer “the Donald” as our leader. He wasn’t my first choice and I’ll never be a big fan of his mannerisms and ways, but I think Trump does have the best interests of America at heart and is on the right track towards making America great again.

Do you support drug testing Congressmen and women?

I think that the laws that apply to all of us regular citizens should be applied equally to members of Congress and the Government as well. That includes the insurance plans, the airport security stuff and yes, drug testing. They’re not special and there should be no special exceptions to law or rules for anyone just because of their role as an elected official, be they Congressman, Senator or just regular stupid idiot off the street.

Do you think people need to accept that Trump is president and give him a chance to succeed?

I answered this earlier and as I said then, if he succeeds as President, we all do better. If he fails as President, we don’t do as well. We should all want to do well and succeed and for our nation to be better, improve and succeed. Anyone who thinks differently is either a traitor, a nut-case or even a stupid idiot.

Some people say Michelle Obama is way classier than Melania Trump. Are they RIGHT or WRONG?

Look at Michelle. Then look at Melania. Look at Michelle again. Then Melania. Is it even close. Melania is a beautiful, intelligent and a role model for young girls to look up to and she radiates class. Michelle looks like a… well, I can’t say what I was thinking, but it’s not particularly classy or respectful. Well, actually I like drag queens so it’s not all that bad, but Michelle is not Melania. Melania appeals to the masses and Michelle, she’s more the favorite of… what’s the word I’m trying to find? Oh yeah, how about stupid idiots?

Do you think Trump needs to spend less time tweeting and more time governing?

I will admit that when Trump tweets, I cringe and am almost scared to see what he’s saying next. He’s a good leader and is on the right track in so many ways towards making America strong and great again, but when he tweets without thinking it out first, he comes across at times like a stupid idiot. He needs to work on that.

Do you think Mike Pence is a good leader for our country?

I’ll admit that I’m kind of split on Mike Pence. He’s not a total-crazy and I think honest, competent and has good intentions for the most part, but on some topics, I look and listen to him and see a stupid idiot standing there. I don’t think I’d be a big Pence supporter or voter in most elections, but that would depend more upon who the opposition is and what their agenda is than anything Pence says or does. Pence is okay. Not great and he has a lot of issues that I don’t like or agree with, but he’s not total bad. Hes not Schumer or Obama or Franken or anyone like that, thank goodness.

And now, that brings this to an end. Thank you for reading. All comments, thoughts, questions and feedback is welcome and appreciated. Just don’t be a stupid idiot with your remarks. Just kidding. Bring it on, my friends. I know that I’m not always politically correct about everything and people may not always agree. Let’s talk it out and debate. Talk to me. And now, I’m down and gone. I have things to do and a nap to take. Take it easy and stay warm and safe. Love you – mean it.

Opposing Views – November 5, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Opposing Views
November 5, 2017

Are you ready to shake your tail feathers and ruffle a few egos and blow some minds? What the hell did I just say? Doesn’t matter because this is my political feature of the site. I’m talking national politics, as opposed to local politics where I have to refrain due to matters out my control (but vote Evans, Garby, Evans in the local City Council election. Remember the Barrett Building!) The questions below come from the folks at the Facebook page of a group called “Opposing Views”. Crazy leftist views for the most part, but still some good questions. And what does a emo-homo-redneck Libertarian have to say about all of this? You’re about to find out. Let’s do this…

Agree or disagree: Our kids should say the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of every school day.

I’m actually mixed on my feelings on this. I think it would be good and better for our young people, starting off the day with respect and showing a little national pride in being an American. Call it what you will, but standing and showing respect for our flag and nation was common in my school days and the people were far more respectful and less crazy back then. Coincidence? I don’t think so. But forcing every kid to take the pledge and participate is in reality, a violation of their First Amendment rights and I can see where some people might not be comfortable. So participation should be optional, but the option should be available and encouraged. God bless America, the greatest country on earth.

Two of President Trump’s top allies just said he might not seek reelection in 2020. Do you think that would be good for America?

It’s too early to determine if it would be good or bad if the President decided to not run again for office, but so far, it seems as if everything is starting to move in the right direction and things are getting better. President Trump is a very polarizing personality though and even those of us who think he’s doing great and support his policies have a hard time dealing with some of his quirks and mannerisms. If everything is put on the right track and in the right direction with strong momentum, maybe it would be better after four years to pass the reigns to Mike Pence or someone of a like nature who can continue the journey to lead America back to the top of the food chain as the greatest country on earth. That’s something they need to decide in the future, but as for now, it’s way too early to even be thinking about that.

The cities of Ocala, Florida and Wildwood, New Jersey banned residents from wearing saggy pants in public. Do you support that?

I agree. While I’m all for personal expression and all of that, no one wants to see someone’s ass hanging out and exposed in public. And have you ever noticed that it’s not the attractive people with the sexy asses that are sagging. It’s always the fat asses with the dirty drawers that look like they haven’t been changed in about three weeks. Just say no to crack and cover those butts up. I don’t want to see your butt unless it’s in the bedroom.

Trump says it’s time to put an end to people mooching off the welfare system.
Do you SUPPORT or OPPOSE Trump’s stance on the issue?

Welfare was created to be temporary and help people get back on their feet during hard times, but it was never meant to be a lifestyle and permanent part of someone’s life. If a person is healthy and able to work, they should be doing that and not collecting checks from the government. Every case is different and should be determined on a case by case basis, but there is so much fraud and dishonesty and people out there who are nothing but leeches on society. That needs to be stopped and Trump is correct on this.

Trump is the first president since 1964 to hide his tax returns from the American public. Do you think he should release it if he has nothing to hide?

I’m going to surprise everyone here and agree. While I personally could care less about his taxes – he’s rich and made a lot of money and paid in a lot of money and if there were problems, the IRS would have gone after him years ago – he should, just to shut people up, go ahead and release the tax returns. Of course, I also think that President Obama needs to have his school records and college transcripts unsealed and released to the public and that all of the Clinton Foundation records should be released to the public as well so what do I know?

Agree or Disagree: Trump is clearly unfit for the Presidency.

He’s brash and outspoken and would be better served to think before he speaks or tweets as the case may be, but he’s trying to keep his promises and despite all of the obstruction and crap from the Democrats and the press, doing a fairly good job. He’s not perfect and has some major issues, but is as good and qualified for the job of President as anyone else who’s held that office and more qualified than some of them, so I’ll have to disagree with this statement.

YES or NO: Do you think it’s okay for schools to pray before sports games?

I say yes on this. If the coaches and players are comfortable with this and want to pray, go for it. I wouldn’t have it be mandatory, but the option should be allowed. I have no problem with it.

Jesse Jackson says NFL players really don’t have it any better than slaves did. How would you respond to him?

NFL players make millions of dollars to play a game and entertain and in return for this money and the celebrity that comes with it, they’re only asked to be respectful of the team and don’t do anything that would harm or hurt the team or product. As usual, the old racist Jesse Jackson knows not what he’s talking about and is just trying to jump into the discussion without a leg to stand on in an attempt to be relevant again, as if he ever really was. Jesse Jackson is a joke and hasn’t got a clue.

Agree or disagree: Rioters should be forced to pay the repair bill for the property they damage.

Agree: This is just common sense that if you willingly damage or destroy something that doesn’t belong to you, you should pay for or replace it or else go to jail. Actions have consequences and if a person does the crime, they need to do the time. ‘Nuff said!

The majority of white Americans say they face discrimination in modern America. Do you AGREE or DISAGREE with them?

This is very true. It’s almost like it’s a crime in America these days to be white and be proud of it. It’s like we should be ashamed of who and what we are. I’ve had situations where, in the place I worked, I was forced to listen to people daily talk about “white mother-f*ckers” and make some of the most blatantly racist remarks, but since they were black and it was a predominately black area of town where I was working, I was forced to ignore it. Can you imagine though if I was to make the same kind of remarks about those customers? Racism is alive and well in America and stronger than ever, but it’s not the so-called minorities that are being the most discriminated against. They cry and scream the loudest so that gets the most attention, but all races face this at some point and whites, the so-called majority, most of all. When will people wise up and realize that skin color doesn’t matter and shouldn’t matter. We’re ALL human and deserve basic respect… unless you’re just an ass-clown and then all bets are off. Nothing to do with racism, but common sense.

And that’s all of that for now. Thanks for reading. Thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated. And I’m down and gone. Until the next time, take care and have a great one.

@00 @ 1 opposing views meme to use

A friend of my mother’s recently wrote a letter to her local newspaper. This is the letter that she wrote…

I am writing this article in reply to Mr. Roy Young’s theory about the Republicans, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News.

First of all, Mr. Young, where is your proof to back up your information to these things you speak of? I have watched Fox News for at least 10 years and find that they are the most reliable news source of news on television. They have been No. 1 in cable news for more than 13 years, and so has Bill O’Reilly, who tries to get to the bottom of things, and tries to help people who have been wronged.

To be exact, President Obama will only remain in office for two more years and about one month, as his term expires in Jan. 20, 2016, when the new president takes the oath of office. We sure do hope that a Republican is elected at that time, in order to get this country back on track, if there is any money left after the Democrats and the president gets done with his waste of government money. He wants to bankrupt this country, and is doing a good job of it so far.

The Republicans still have a lot of work to do. So don’t count on the Democrats too much in the coming year of 2014, as they have sided with the president on about every issue, including the Affordable Care Act, which they signed in the middle of the night, and implemented on March 23, 2010, and the president has refused to meet with the Republicans still, on other issues, as he seems to think he has the authority to do as he pleases without their consent. He is violating the Constitution every day. Also, don’t forget that he took out more than $500 billion dollars to finance his ACA and still plans on cutting Medicare.

So don’t blame the Republicans for everything. You should blame the Democrats for going along with him on legislative matters. So wise up, Mr. Young! Let’s put the blame where it belongs.

(The writer lives in Little River.)

And a few days later, in her mailbox, she opened it up to find this letter…

This isn’t the first time you’ve written some pathetic latter to the Sun News in defense of the raw sewage that passes for information at FOX “News”. Could it ever enter your dim mind that Hannity and Limbaugh and O’Reilly and the rest of those idiots are professional liars and paid propagandists for the Republican Party? After 10+ years of swallowing their filth, do you even have a functioning brain? Hey, you forgot to mention the “death panels”, you dumb old twat.

Jesus Christ, it took exactly ten sconds to determine that (name omitted) of Little River, SC is 81 YEARS OLD! Why does some elderly moron who is collecting Social Security and getting Medicare have a reason to oppose the Affordable Care Act? Well, the phrase “fucking hypocrite” does come to mind. Perhaps you’re suffering from senility, but in case you haven’t noticed, the Republican Party easily lost the elections of 2008 and 2012 and is FINISHED as a national party since you illiterate angry old white people are dying off in droves. Have no doubt that you will not live to see a Republican elected president in 2016 or any time after that, assuming that you’re still alive and stealing oxygen from somebody more deserving.

You profess to worry about the Government wasting money. Did you give one good Goddamn when the cretin George Bush and his cronies spent trillions of tax dollars to invade and occupy Iraq and Afghanistan, the longest and most unnecessary wars in the country’s history? Of course not; It didn’t affect you personally. Nobody in your family was killed or crippled. Asshole.

I was prepared to simply ignore your profound ignorance as just the rant of another stupid, selfish old person, but then I got to reading stuff like this:

“I was out on a business trip and I’m still catching up. Reading Soonergrunt’s post about his daughter reminded me of how I felt the day Obamacare passed. I was relieved because I knew that my daughter, who has a serious, lifelong pre-existing condition, will always be able to get insurance. Obamacare saved her, my wife, and me thousands of dolars and years of worry.

My dad is a lifelong Democrat because he felt that Roosevelt and the Democrats gave a shit about their kids during the Depression. I’m a Democrat because it’s clear who gives a shit about my kid, and none of them have an R after their name.

They don’t give a shit that hating gays leads to teen suicide.

They don’t give a shit if kids go hungry because food stamps were cut.

They don’t give a shit if teenagers can’t get birth control.

And they certainly don’t give a shit that a kid who has epilepsy, or Crohn’s, will be saddled with a life of worry over whether she’ll be able to buy insurance.

After all the noise over the website dies down, after the Republicans try to shut down the government three more times and vote to repeal another dozen times, this is what’s going to be left for thousands of American families: a man and a party that gave enough of a shit about them to endure a five year temper tantrum from a party that clearly has a broken give-a-shitter when it comes to children.”

I read that and tehn go back and read your swill again. It wakes we want to track down dispicable scum like you and bash in your worthless skull with a baseball bat. Maybe you could learn to sleep with one eye open, you evil old hag!

Here’s another opinion on vile people like you:

“Take all the shit characteristics that a human can possess – greed, violence, self-absorption, bigotry – all of them, EVERY shot characteristic that makes a human indecent; leave out every deent characteristic a human can possess – empathy, humility, honesty – all of them, and what you have, THAT being (not really human) is the prototypical modern day Republican: all crap, no redeeming value. Republicans are a pox on humanity and what it means to be human.”

May you and all the degenerates at FOX “News” die in a fire.

Yes, she has contacted local law enforcement authorities in regards to this. I think that this, regardless of how a person thinks politically, is extremely disgusting and kind of frightening. Thoughts? Comments?

Letter To The Editor: Voter ID Laws

Back on October 25, 2011, I wrote a “Letter to the Editor” of our local paper concerning the idea of Voter ID Laws… Here is that letter in it’s entirety… Enjoy!

Dear Editor,

Not quite so long ago, the State of South Carolina passed a Voter ID Law that requires voters to show valid identification when coming to vote. A similar law has been proposed for here in North Carolina and is currently under scrutiny. It seems simple enough, doesn’t it. After all, what’s the big deal, right?

And then the naysayers started. According to The South Carolina Election Commission, who decided to look at the problems concerning this new law, the precients with the largest number of voters not allowed to cast a ballot due to not having ID, were generally areas with a large non-white population and most specifically in areas where there were a large number of black college students.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian issued a statement saying that this new law “is disenfranchising huge groups of people who don’t have the money to go get an ID card”. MSNBC Commentator Chris Matthews took it a step farther on his show, “Hardball”, where he accused SC Governor Nikki Haley (R) of being out of touch and then compared the new Voter ID law to Jim Crow era racism, stating “”There have been complaints by many South Carolinians that the law [requiring citizens to show photo identification at the polls] will effectively end up disenfranchising many traditionally Democratic supporters in the state.”

It just goes on and on and on as cries of racism and voter supression ring out all across the land. It’s not fair to make the 80 year old Grandma show ID to vote. It’s not fair to force these people, who are in bad health and on fixed incomes go down and get a valid picture ID. It’s not fair that these students, who are hard at work trying to study and learn and prepare for their futures, to force them to go down and get an ID card. It’s all discrimination and voter supression. It’s racist.

I’m calling it right now. Bullcrap!

If these allegedly supressed voters want to write a check, they have to show ID. If they want to open an account at a bank or withdraw money from a bank account, they have to show ID. If they want to buy a pack of cigarettes or buy a six pack of beer, they have to show an ID. If they have a job, they’re required by law to show ID before being hired. If they drive, they have to have a license which is (surprise) a picture ID. If they want to get married, they have to show an ID. If they apply for Food Stamps or unemployment benefits or disability or Medicare or any kind of Government aid, they have to show an ID. If they want to open any kind of account anywhere or rent a home or buy a car or buy insurance or be admitted into a hospital, people have to show an ID.

Let me guess. All of those things are voter supression and racist too, right?

Showing an ID is just a simple fact of life and unless you don’t drive, don’t have a bank account, don’t pay bills, don’t have an income or job, don’t visit doctor’s offices, don’t drink and don’t smoke and have no contact of any kind with the real world, you will be required at some point in your life to have a valid ID card. That’s just how it is and anyone who claims otherwise is just far more out of touch than Chris Matthews seems to feel SC Governor Haley allegedly is.

If you’re going to vote in SC, be prepared to show an ID. If you can’t show an ID, as you aleady do for so many other purposes in daily life, then you don’t deserve the right to vote. It not disenfranchising or racist. It’s just the way things are in order to prevent voter fraud and non-citizens from attempting to vote. It might be inconvenient, but so what? Life gets that way sometimes and it’s about time that all of these rabble-rousers claiming “racism” at every drop of a hat wise up and learn this.

Thank you,
Douglas Maynard
