Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Ric Flair recently explained that the reason he’s not on AEW TV is because he takes blood thinners and Tony Khan won’t let him blade. “The reason I’m not on TV now is Tony [Khan] didn’t know I was on blood thinners…That’s why. At Sting’s last match, I had already made a blade. I was ready to go. He said [no]…I made blades for all the guys in the old days.” Thoughts?
So, the reason he hasn’t been on AEW TV since March 2024 is because he takes blood thinners and makes blades? It has nothing to do with being an alcoholic, embarrassing himself practically every time he appears in public, and constant attempts to make sure the spotlight is about Ric Flair over everyone and everything else. Ric sounds a bit delusional. Put the bottle down, Ric. heavy sighs
What wrestler have you always hated, perhaps to an irrational level?
Tammy Sytch, aka Sunny. I’ve never liked her, and guess what? History has proven me right. I’ve never liked Brutus Beefcake all that much either, but I wouldn’t say it ever rose to the level of hate.
Bryan Danielson named the top four wrestlers he would build a company around: Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Jon Moxley, and Kenny Omega. What do you think of his choices?
It sounds like Bryan just looked around backstage in the AEW locker room and named the first four people he saw. Look at AEW right now. These are the four top stars of the promotion. Danielson must have taken one or two shots of the Kool-Aid before answering that question.
What four wrestlers would you build a company around?
Bron Breakker, Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins, and Matt Cardona.
In your opinion, what are the three best and greatest rivalries in WWE history?
WWE history rules out the Dusty Rhodes versus Ole Anderson rivalry, as well as Flair-Steamboat, and The Midnight Express versus The Rock & Roll Express. So, I’ll go with Bret Hart versus HBK, Vince McMahon versus Steve Austin, and Bruno versus Zbyszko.
Shane McMahon and Charlotte Flair were spotted together at a Lakers game. So, is Shane & Charlotte WWE’s new power couple?
Shane is married and Charlotte was there with baseball legend Alex Rodriguez. They spoke to each other, as old friends and co-workers often do. But Shane and Charlotte are not together. Too bad because that would make for some great WWE TV.
You’re the booker for WWE. Name your four male singles champions.
If I were the boss of WWE and had full control, my champions, based on the current roster, would be WWE Champion CM Punk, World Champion Seth Rollins, United States Champion Bron Breakker, and Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio.
According to WrestleVotes, Triple H is currently spending 6-8 hours per day, 7 days a week, working on booking and storylines. By comparison, he only spent about an hour a day when he was running NXT for the same job. Thoughts?
All that shows is that Triple H is working hard and is very devoted to his job. My only fear about this revelation is that it could easily lead to major burnout. I hope that Triple H takes some time off and finds a way to relax sometimes or else he won’t be lasting very long.
How would you compare Ricochet’s run in AEW compared to his prior days in WWE? Did Ricochet make the right call by switching brands?
In WWE, Ricochet was a popular mid-carder, but not much of a character. Currently in AEW, he’s Tony Khan’s new toy and getting a major push, plus probably far more money. Ricochet seems to have made the right move for his career. Good for him.
When I say the word ‘Intense’, what wrestlers immediately come to mind?
The first name that comes to mind is Chris Benoit. Everything about Benoit, from his promos to his in-ring work, just reeked of intensity. Also, Macho Man Randy Savage fits this description as well.
